Hello, I am a small filmmaker from South Carolina. My friends and I have a small crew and want to shoot an independent slasher/horror film with a small budget. I have already created a story, and a sort of rough draft that I can send. I would like to collaborate with another writer and write a screenplay. If you are interested, send me your e-mail and we'll talk on there.

Do you have anything online that we can see of yours, William?

Currently I have not posted anything of mine on here. Most of the work I've done are rough drafts I want to work on more before posting anything. For the heck of it, I am adapting a novel called Line Of Duty by Michael Grant, a police drama about the murder of a drug dealer in Harlem. Then, I am working on this horror project that I want to show off when my friend and I go to film school in another year.

Once again, not yet. I have a short film in the middle of editing though that will be on Youtube probably sometime next month that I'd gladly post on here, though.

Is the goal to get into festivals or just to have something to show at film school?

Are you looking to do a feature length or short?

What is your time line for production?

Looking forward to it.

Until then, you can check the horror section, here.  Even the shorts section.  You may find something that catches your interest.

He's looking for a writer, Phil, not a script.

That's true.  But it's also a way to find a writer.

Well as of right now, I don't know what to expect with this film. I know we are going to be spending about 1,000 US on it, because we plan on making this with a small amount of money (I mean, I'm 17 and can make this for 1,000, trust me). I am going to try to go for a feature, as long as possible, and I want to do both. Festivals and film school. If it actually wins at a festival, that would be better but I have no idea as of right now, it is only in pre-production. If it actually starts to win, and actually gaining cash, I will pay the writer. If not, well, it would probably be only a credit deal.

I am spending September - May on pre-production. Writing the screenplay, finding the actors, getting the budget together and finish buying the equipment, the whole lot. There is only one main location, because the story I have in mind takes place in one night at one house. Once everything is finally set, it will finally go into production. Two are directing this film: myself and my friend. We will shoot from July - December, giving us a six-month shooting time. Then, we can use January - April for editing the film, scoring it, and getting a DVD ready. That way, I can use the following summer sending it all around to places.

But don’t forget, I will also be helping out the writer I am asking for. I want to also work on the screenplay because I have a lot of ideas floating around for it.

While I'm only a writer, I strongly recommend you do a short as opposed to a feature.  The money will go further and it'll be a better learning experience.

I've been toying with an extremely low budget script for a while now.  After a lot of thought, I've decided t write it as a short and not a feature (as I originally pictured it).  Sometimes, short is better.

Understandable, and we have done a lot of shorts for practice. We just never uploaded them. Actually, we've been doing them for about two years. We just want to really actually put everything we can into this, try to make it as best as possible. I guess I'm shooting for the stars so to speak, but its what I do best.

William,

I don't know if you've gotten a lick of response back yet, but given your production schedule, I might be able to help you fabricate a script.  I assume you have an outline or something similar in place?  If so, I can do it.

If you want, go to the main page and search my name for some sample scripts.  If you like my writing style, we can discuss further from there.
