I'm sure you would find any good samaritan to help you here. Are you a director?

You really should tell us something about yourself, Couuuch, if you expect anyone to help you.  You posted a short reply to a script two years ago and now you just pop in here.

We need a little more than that.

Yes. I know I haven't been here in a while. I stepped back from the film making business for a reason I'm not even sure of. A couple of years ago I was into the "jackass" type of videos (can't even call them films). Though I have done a few more "serious" pieces of work that I can show you of course. I have worked by myself with being director, cameraman, and editor but am getting a group of people together for this film I have in mind.

Of course I'm hoping for this to be the best I've done

http://www.myspace.com/COUUUCH is my MySapce is where I have my three "more serious" films that I've done. I mostly just played around with a few techniques to see what I could do with them. I also (as stated in an earlier post), I was director, cameraman, and editor in all of them. (Exception for IRONy).

Thanks for any suggestions or comments!

I think what dogglebe is trying to say is, in order for anyone here will invest their time and talent in the fourm, it might be to your benefit to perhaps give some background, mabey a sample of what it is you want someone to work on with you. Stuff like that.

I am new here so my opinion is not really up there yet, but I would think taking on a script alone with an idea of your own is tough, but asking someone else to do it for you will be hard as hell. at least until some one strikes up a kinship with you and a like mind towards you're goal. Just my thoughts.

With all do respect I'm not asking someone else to write a script for me. In my first post I said "I'm basically looking for someone who can help write the script and get the details in place". I want to work together through hte whole complete process so the film can be great.

I know a lot of people here are overseas, but it'd be even more great if the person helping lived in the area so we could meet up.

What is the short film you had in mind? You can probably find more takers with a genre perhaps.

A serial killer horror Film. Nothing gorry (not my thing). I like to flim things that can happen as the film is complete (no sci-fi).

Couuuch,
I wasn't trying to be disresptful in my eariler post to you. I simply was trying to help give some input to help you appeal to a particular group based on your style, genre and voice to offer to the script.

You want it to be a horror, right?

No gore. right?

No Sci-Fi. right?

From this lets ask a couple of questions on what you do want.

Do you want the serial killer script to be a short? I know in tour first post, you said "I have a short film in mind ". Are you talking about 5 pages, 15 pages, 50 pages. How long is the story you have in mind?

Is your serial killer based on someone in history? Or is it out of your own head?

Do you want it to be satirical, like blood simple. Sick yet funny, or texas chain saw masacre-ish?

Do you want it to low-medium or high budget?

Just a few that poped into my mind. Mabey this can get you and anyone in the forum to come together in the same direction.

I would think there must be someone here to help this aspiring filmmaker with a serial killer film, instead of just giving him a hard time.  He even has his own set of films for you to watch to prove he can make a film (they were amusing Couuuch - though they could do with a little cutting IMHO).

It seems like a good opportunity to me to strike up a relationship with someone who can film things and if I had the time right now I would help him myself.  So someone help this guy - instead of making SS the place for filmmakers to be roasted - make it the place for filmmakers to find resources.

I have no idea what you are talking about. In the last few minutes, I simply tried to narrow down a few points with regard to the direction he is going with his idea. No where in my last post or the one before went anywhere near a roast towards this person.

I see Michels point as well. Everybody here is simply trying to get a pulse for what this person wants and then direct him in the proper direction.

If this person has an idea in mind, perhaps he should just say it and clear things up a bit.

No disrespect to you or Couuuch, but I think you have over reacted a bit by saying this forum has roasted this person.

Just my opinion.

This filmmaker clearly stated what he wants.  He has an idea and he wants someone to help him script that idea.  Not only that, this person backed up the fact that he can make films by presenting three. He even told us the genre, serial killer.

There is no reason whatsoever that this filmmaker, or any other filmmaker should have to state their idea publicly in order to get help. And very often they won't anyway.

So instead of giving this filmmaker a hard time by asking twenty questions maybe an offer of help would be more in order.

So based upon your assumpton, people in this forum should be lining up to help co-write this script.

All I am hearing is crickets.

You as a moderator, should know full well that the time spent on this site by simple folk like me is to find like minded people in which to find similar voices by which to expand ones own projects.

By trying to ask questions, I felt mabey it would help to give a broader dimension to this person, increasing his possibilitity to find that match in a co-writer.

It feels to me like you are championing him and chiding us.

Personally, It seems you are giving him a harder time than this forum simply by focusing on the fact that no one has stepped up.

By the way, the story you wrote " dont go in the bathroom" Is right up my alley.

You are fairly new here. We go through this every time a filmmaker asks for help on the board (you should have seen the thread for the Christian filmmaker before it was moderated).

I am only trying to facilitate the desired response.  "Yes, Simply Scripts can help, come here for your scripting needs".

Do you see something wrong with that logic?  Isn't that your goal too?  Maybe the time you spend worrying about whether or not I'm chiding you would be better spent helping this fellow or possibly writing another script.

Speaking of which, I'm off to do just that.

mcornetto,
I think we can see things the same, on some points but I feel we are missing the mark on the fundimental element that started this exchange.

I don't see your point. You are the moderator and are right in the middle of this.

I dont see that you are. I feel you got involved and went after the people who were trying simply to ask questions.

I like this site alot. It's people are great.

(mcornetto said)

I don't nor should you. Look I don't want to be in a pissing contest between me and you because you are the mod. But what I don'e apperciate is you taking a stand for a view that you favor and try and sway that opinion based on your emotion rather than the facts.

The facts seem to be that some people here would like to know a little more about what this persons direction (including me) to guage if any interest is warranted.

Hell the reason I was asking is because I an currenty working on a horror and wanted to see if he was a bit of a fit.

(mcornetto said)

I dont worry about it. I just don't feel it should be your job to take up a cause. It should be your job to moderate.

Have a wonderful night.

The total length of film doesn't really matter to me much. It will be as long as it ends up (I just want a real good quality film). The serial killer is based off a friendly childresn book "Where's Waldo". I'd like to keep blood to a very low. None is possible. Just a killer who's known to be a friendly character and has gone bad. The budget is none to low. It's all coming out of pocket.

Post your thoughts!

Another bump, from me. Not you Me, me me. Anyways, I'm a long way from you Couuuch. I take it you're looking for someone close to you in the good old US. I'm in the UK at the mo so probably no use at all. However, if you want help to work up a short script I'll do what I can. PM me and I'll get back to you.
If not perhaps someone keen to see their stuff on film close to you may get in touch. Either ways the best of luck to you.

How many people are you expecting to cast in this film? What ages are they?
What locations do you have access to?

Some questions that came to my mind.

Just Murdered by Sean Elwood (Zombie Sean) and Gabriel Moronta (Mr. Ripley) - (Dark Comedy, Horror) All is fair in love and war. A hopeless romantic gay man resorts to bloodshed to win the coveted position of Bridesmaid. 99 pages.

Oh man. I wish I had been on SS early this week, I would've jumped all over this while the rest of you huffed and puffed at the filmmakers request.

Missed out again.

And why is everyone dissing the Christian filmmaker? I exchanged emails with him and he was very polite and actually responded to everyone of my emails, which can't be said about most (but not all) filmmakers.

The only problem I had was he said he excepted scripts or a synopsis. But when I emailed him a synopsis he said he would only look at scripts. So I just left it at that.

I have a short film in mind and even what would make a great first five minutes of the film. I'm having trouble getting the script written because I've never written one. So I'm basically looking for someone who can help write the script and get the details in place.

Thanks for any help!

In the end will there be co-write credits on the final product or do you want someone to coach you on formatting and how to shape the story?

btw, the possibility for finding help is greater if you don't add a geographical limit. After all, there are emails, video conferencing and phone technologies available...

Yeah hell I'm still keen. And instead of fighting over who get the jobs why not collaberate between two writers. should be interesting to put two heads together.

Mr Ripley you interested?

First I'll PM this Mr.  Couuuch and find out what's going on.

I'm afraid that maybe the critical tool who posted above may have scared him off.
