As some of you might know, I'm writing a sequel to the found footage vampire script. I'm knocking at FADE OUT:s door, but need a little help with something first.

In my vampire script there are only two ways to kill a vampire. Either through decapitation or fire. No stakes through the heart or silver or any of that. What I need help with is coming up with some cool weapons that either decapitate or burn up the vampires. The weapons also need to be portable. I have one of the good guys being an engineer and he's the one that comes up with these weapons.

I've wrecked my brain over this, but the only weapons I have come up with are not cool, so I thought I would turn to you guys!

Any suggestions, no matter how silly are appreciated, because sometimes other ideas can spark from those lesser ideas.  

  

It's too bad you ruled out the classics. Otherwise, I'd just point you in "From Dusk Till Dawn"'s direction.

Fire:

Fireworks + gasoline.
Steel mill (Terminator 2-style).
Molotov cocktail.
Lighter fluid + water gun + lighter (Sudden Death-style).

Decapitation:

Paper cutter blade.
Saw blade launcher (Ghosts of Mars-style).
Car crash (Famke Janssen in The Faculty-style).

That's all I've got for now. I'm not clever when it comes to homemade weapons.

How about a bow and arrow that shoots arrows that have blades that open to create a cutting edge wide enough to chop sir fangsters head off?

Something involving laser beams is always cool too. A white hot laser does both, starts fires and cuts off noggins...

How about something like this -- except it is with razor wire -- and you can loop it over their head, pull it taut, and pop their head off?

I could see a vampire hunter using such weapons.

Fire Device -- Combustion Sphere
For fire possibly a small metal ball with needles all the way around it sticking out so that when the hunter slings it into the vampire, like a throwing star, the weapon would stick in them. Possibly made the needles have a barbed end. Then the hunter clicks a button on a leather arm band thing that explodes the combustion sphere --- so my weapon of fire would be the combustion sphere detonated by remote so that your hunter could throw the weapon then push the button and burn them to hell.

Decapatation Device -- BoomaFANG
Now for a clever decapatation device, I'm thinking of a "boomafang" similar to a boomerang in that the hunter would throw it. It would be metal and shaped like one of those round (hole in the middle) frisbees. Once it was thrown, it would ring the neck of the vamp like a necklace until the 'fangs' came out all meeting in the middle slicing the head clean from the body.

I dunno if that helps you Pia but I can come up with many more if you no like those Best luck with it. I'm going to have to side with the vamps in your story (any story) though

I designed a cool, well in my opinion, weapon for a friend who was going to film a short but it fell through. It was a 3 in 1 martial arts weapon. Jo (short staff) sword and nunchaku, diamond dusted wire replacing the chain.

The staff splits about six inches down. The longer part unsheaths a blade and a hilt is folded inside here.

The scabbard splits midway with the razor wire concealed inside and becomes a nunchaku. Hope that all makes sense.

I can made mock up if you need one, but you'd have to give me some time!

Keep in mind that they can move really really fast so they would be hard to catch if you have to do that first.  I have a crossbow with blades on it that if you shoot it at their neck, the blades swing around and cut the neck like scizzors. (don't know why I can never learn how to spell scizors)  Also had a plasma gun in mind, but thought it seemed too Star Trekish.

I like the idea about a crossbow that has the retracting blades on the arrows.  Depending on the budget, that could be a great visual effect.

The pig-catcher thing could be useful, too.

How about incendiary rounds fired from a shotgun or hungun. You could also shoot 'Macho Gaucho' rounds, two steel balls connected by wire, enough to loose the head of any blood sucker . . .

Budget is supposed to be pretty decent and they want lots of CGI so I'm not going to worry about budget this time. So weapons can be made up too.

For burning, you can't beat a homemade flamethrower for getting rid of those nasty vampires.

Decapitation... Well the coolest thing that comes to mind is a samurai sword but I'm guessing your characters ain't the Japanese swordsman type.

I always liked the "disc" weapon which the predator and Mr. Glover used in Predator 2. Great for chopping off a few heads before returning like a boomerang.

If all else fails then you could turn to the trusty axe which Abe used for killing the pesky creatures.
