I'm sure that this will turn out to be an ok movie. A lot of people on here seem to like it as well.

But I don't understand how someone (script shadow) can rate something as unoriginal as this among the best 25 scripts he's read and at number 3 at that.

It's well written, no doubt. But compared to some of the other scripts that Carson rates highly (namely Desperate Hours and Untitled Chef project, which are two of my favourite scripts of all time), I really couldn't see the attraction here, as everything just felt so stale and done-before. The hooker with the heart of gold? Check. The invincible protag with the dead wife, acting on purely altruistic motivations? Check. The Russian mobsters? Check again. As I said, well written? Sure. But do I see this being well received when released? Not really. I mean, I can't see how it could be, considering how little it brought to any already well-worn genre.
