Weird question, but...

Anybody out there ever try to write one or create one?

Just curious.

I did back in -08  - -09. A show about skydiving.

It was a show in the box. Everything was ready for production. Budget planned down to the last penny, the whole first season planned out  in detail and anything else in between that goes into producing a show. We also had a pretty slick video to go with it.

Great Idea.  So what happened?   Did it ever get off the ground? (no pun intended).

Can we see it somewhere?

Clearly I'm fishing for any info I can get because I've got an idea for a reality TV show bouncing around in my head.

Once I've written & copyrighted "the pitch", how would I shop it around?   Maybe something like this?  http://www.tvwritersvault.com/companyinfo/how_we_sell_your_tv_show_ideas.asp

Anybody got any better ideas?  Thanks.

I pm'd you a link to the video.

As far as how to pitch the show goes, in my experience, the various cable and network TV companies we approached want other companies to be the actual production company. The big guys will only buy the shows if they can see the finished product. In our case, we were our own production company and all of the cable and TV companies we pitched to wanted to see at least one completed show. The pilot. None were interested in funding the show's production. Less risk for them if another production company puts up the money.

In the end, nothing happened with our show. It was hot for awhile and we went to L.A. and even talked to big corporations like Target as being the underwriter. Everything took too long and our show lost its "hotness".

I've considered this in the past... a few times.. and yeah, I'd actually film a pilot first, then get interest from TV companies and then, with the go ahead from them, I'd use that to approach execs to fund it.

Pia -- Skydiving, but there're only 4 working parachutes out of 5. One contestant is going to die. Maybe there could be a phone-in and the viewers at home actually vote who they want to get the faulty chute, then watch the inevitable splat.

Top prize... a 32" Plasma Screen TV!

Thanks for the info.  Promo looks great.  Sorry it didn't work out.

That's showbiz.
