There are 9 shows there that I've never heard of.

I just clicked Thundarr the Barbarian and checked out the IMDb. Why would anyone pick that? I'm thinking it's likely to be turned into comedy but I have no idea how such a show could be rebooted in an intelligent way.

It'll probably be my favourite of the bunch. I'm looking forward to Cheers. Very easy to reboot, but will it be as funny? You need a huge pair to try something like that. Good luck.

I've never seen Nightmare on Elm Street series. I got bored of the films by the 3rd one. Another series rebooted? We'll see.

The $6 Million Dollar Man is one I wanted to reboot myself so that will be interesting.

I'm not in this one myself, by the way, but I will be reading.

Well, you'll definitely need a deft hand with the writing to impress imh. During my 'research' I've read scripts for Cheers and other very popular comedy series. I discovered they don't actually read laugh out loud funny. Lucky to get a chuckle from the reading and I've enjoyed watching these shows a lot in the past.

All of which leads me to believe a lot of the success of these shows comes down to delivery by some very talented actors and physical comedy.

No pressure but I'll be on the look out for this one too.

Woody, Cliff, Norm, Carla, with their own spin offs? Hmm...
Perhaps a long lost son of Sam Malone.

Friday and Freddys I understand because they are generally anthology shows.
Quite a few animation shows here. I'm curious to see how the the writers re imagine them in a live action context.  Some of these sound really challenging.

I never heard of the anime Monster before and started watching the video clip. This would be very cool live action, if that's the individuals intent.

I think it's cool to dedicate a thread for listing the shows and the research on them. This is why I thought it's appropriate to post this here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Scree.....tival_run_with_some/

This is someone's TV pilot and people who watched it says it's pretty cool. It's only 25 minutes long. I think it will help inspire us since the page limit is 24. I haven't found the time to watch it yet, but I was able to spare a second to share it with you. Tell me if it's any good.

Exactly my thinking. Besides a whole team adds to jokes in these shows. I don't expect a lot of comedy on the pages but definitely some.
I personally will be looking for a structure, potential, and some entertainment value.

But whoever the rebooter of Cheers is - congrats of thinking of it. One of the best shows ever although I've seen it long time ago.

I pulled the comedy card first round of the WT and it's a crap shoot whether a reader finds something funny or not. So much depends on delivery (e.g. Cheers!) that it can be lost if the writer's mental image differs from the readers. Can you think of any other actor that could pull off Sheldon from Big Bang?

If someone is rebooting a comedy series, I think they really need to make it clear if their using the same 'actor-type' characters. If it's a whole new take with age and era, I suggest spending a great amount of time on detailing traits and tics.

But again, my mental image for most things is, well, quite mental!

Wow! Twenty-six slated for entry already.

And we're still a week out.

Personally I think it's a mistake to take classics and morph them into a different genre, but I'm poised for writers to prove me wrong.

And while Kham's right about sitcoms likely having a troop of comedy geniuses all sitting around a table brainstorming witty repartee and jokes, if you're writing in this genre it better tickle the funny bone a bit.

Says me.

Not sure I agree.  You can have some great programs that have been rebooted.

Quincy is CSI.

Buffy the movie was horrid.  But the series was awesome.

Lost in Space is a big hit.

And I'm drawing a blank bc my brain went on vacation.  Some help??

Very pleased to see Quincy and Quantum Leap in the list. If I'd have had time for this, I would have picked an old classic UK TV show from my childhood that still haunts me to this day (in a good way) called Sapphire & Steel.

Wow that sounded cool.  In a roundabout way it makes me think of an old show called Circle of Fear in that I saw it as a very young child and some of the scenes haunted me to this day.  It's funny what you recall as a child.

I don't remember that one but I do recall one were if you said the nursery rhyme 'Ring-A-Ring-A-Roses' you were sucked into a vortex. That episode terrified me.

There was also one were Sapphire & Steel were trapped in a time loop in a cafe with some soldiers during World War II. Such a story line is common these days but this was one of the first time I'd seen a time loop story and it was so cool.

I see Miami Vice is added. I wonder how this will be redone, since the film with Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell from 2006 was a in my view, an underrated and surprising updated take. The film ditched the 80s cheese that wound up jumping the shark that poised the series in its later seasons. But that's what everyone supposedly remembers, aside from the "music video" feel to the show.

As much as I liked the series, I was a bigger fan of Micheal Mann's other series from the 80s, Crime Story.

That said, if Vice makes the cut, that may be one of first I'll read.

What I don't like about this listing of the titles before people do them is all the available breadcrumbs. Being able to mark off what people didn't write takes us one step closer to knowing what they did write.

The argument regarding the same series being rebooted over and over again doesn't hold much water in this instance as there are just too many series' to pick from.

Yeah, in hindsight I should have asked that in a PM. That said, it's probably pretty predictable which one I'm writing. Can't wait to see what the other writers come up with.

If you want to change the title of your series, that's fine.  It just has to have some nod to the original.  Let's take 70s series Adam 12, which I know no one rebooted.  If you wanted to call it Adam 12 2018 cool.  Or Adam 12, the hood etc.  If you wanted to change the title to Good Cops then no.  There has to be a way for the reader to know this is a reboot.

Just when I thought you couldn't possibly drop another breadcrumb.

That said, it's probably pretty predictable which one I'm writing.

Not that it matters much, I suppose... but, still.

Anyone else lost track of the days and are now freaking out that there are only 16 hours left?

Hey, Don. Just thought I'd let you know the Knight Rider video link is the URL to this very thread. I found it on NBC.com Classic TV:

https://www.nbc.com/classic-tv.....id=146671#vc146671=1

The rest of the links appear to be fine. I wonder what happened?

If anyone still needs Gomer, the user removed the video.

Here it is at Dailymotion:

I only have five more shows to get acquainted with and six scripts left to read.
