Hey guys,
This will be a long one.

First off:  Confession.  Don called me today to check up on me.  It was really nice and thanks to all of you who were concerned.  Last year, I was diagnosed with bone liquifications in my bones.  This is consistent with Lupus and or Rheumatoid Arthritis.  As with everything else, there is nothing that can be done ATM.  The pains in my bones are horrific from time to time.

Basically, I take regular pain meds for the structural pain that I am in, and can't take the only thing that would help the bone pain: Medical Marijuana.  Sadly MM doesn't do anything for structural pain.  And no doctor will give you both.  So, now, when all 3 act up, and Lupus fully explains my energy issues, well, that's my life.  It can really suck.

I kinda over-did it.  Taxed my neck and it wasn't happy.  Feeling better, so, here I am.

I won't say who sent me this, but, one of the people who submitted something lost their dad.  If we ever lose sight of why we write, keep this in mind:  We write to make a connection with each other.  We write to touch each other.  This person spent hours watching this show with their dad and he put a copy of the script in his dad's coffin.

That's why we do this.  That's why we suffer through the hardships, doubts, hard times, etc.  Don't ever forget that.  I know I won't.

Onto the OWC, more like a One Month, am I right??

This exceeded both Don and my wildest dreams.  He was very happy with the interest and the follow-through.  20 of you took something you liked and gave it your spin.  I plan to read a bunch more now that the neck finally just hurts instead of really hurts.  I hope you fix it up and I wish each of you the best of luck with any future contest you enter for it.  The market is huge.

Thanks for getting all this together, Dan. I'm really sorry about your situation. I can't even imagine what that must be like. Hang in there, Man. And if you ever need someone to talk to, you got my number.

I'm really happy with my take on a Friday the 13th tv series. Really hated the original series. So I wanted to "fix" it. Thanks to all who read!

And bring on the July OWC!!!!!!!!

Let me be the first to say, congratulations, Khamanna.

Dexter's Lab.  I spent 2 hrs looking for this name and have given up.  I am sure one of the other Mods can just update it.

Waleed wrote Dexter. It's actually on the bottom left corner of the title page.

Congrats to everybody who entered, or at least called dibs on a show. It was a fun month-ish.

Thanks, Dan. You did an awesome job, and it was a lot of fun. It was new and fresh, too)

Congrats to the top 5, to HM's and to all who had an entry in. Except Cam didn't write Quincy. He didn't accept the ownership the other day. I'm thinking of adopting it.

Dan!!! I knew something had to have been up, well sorry to hear about all that but really hope to have you back to full health and writing away again. Cheers for running it, really appreciate the effort, especially through the struggle. Also, as per usual, cheers Don!!

John! Congrats mate, really well deserved, still won't forgive you for the black lab though...

Eric, again good script. Lose the classroom scene and that's a grade A effort, worth a tweak or two and use it as a sample piece.

Cheers for the votes for 3rd guys!! I was worried it was a bit too rambly but I'm so happy some of you got a kick out of it, makes it all worth while. And Kham...I neither confirmed or denied it!! So happy you liked it though, you can adopt it, but maybe just on the weekends, and i get it for the rest of the week...

Good work all x

Dan, you're a hero for doing this despite all the challenges you're facing. One day at a time, man, and you've got people who care and have all the patience and understanding you need right here.

Congrats, John! It's a great idea, one I could easily see being picked up.

Eric and Cam, both scripts were great, you deserve to stand on the podium.

This was a really fun challenge. Thanks for putting it together Dan and Don!

Wahoo! First things first: So happy to hear you're feeling better, Dan. Thanks for putting moderating an awesome OMC. I wish you nothing but the best.

Second: Thanks to everyone for your comments and votes. Like I said in my confessional, Branded is going places. I'm going for an hour pilot and have a lot of adventures already in mind for McCord (sans Tonto). Watch for the revision, as it has a nice little twist to the pilot's ending.

Thanks again. It was the best wake-up call I've had in a long time.

Thanks Dan, for running this successful OWC! Great job.

Congrats, John. Branded was a good one. Also to the runner ups. Had fun reading all of these. Looks
Like I’m just gonna have to buy a mug. How much are they, Don? $9.99?

It's actually the introverted right-hander's mug, which functions as an extroverted left-hander's mug. (Graphic faces a right-hander, faces away from a left-hander).

At least you can get a 3% rebate using Ebates, so it's only... forget it, it's still car payment.

They're expensive because each one is carefully hand crafted with the tears from a Jeff review.

Been busy but congrats to JESstats. Branded was my fav of the scripts I read and I had a feeling it was gonna walk away with this one.

That said, with regards to my Quantum Leap script I am pissed and kicking myself for that dumb little A instead of U left in the title. I swear I google searched the name 3 or 4 times when writing to make sure I had it right and the fact it slipped through on the title page makes me mad. I got crucified for it in the comments, rightfully so, but I felt it was a strong script and had dreams of a repeat with it. Shame.

Guess I'll have to start over from scratch next time an OWC rolls around these parts.

Congratulations to the winners and well done to Dan for organizing such a tremendous OMC (one month challenge). I wish I'd taken part. I see a Quincy script came second, I've not read any of these so far but I'm going to have to read that one at least.

In light of Miami Vice being a big, fat loser in the OWC

I'm now obsessed with completing a Season 1 of my reboot.  My two hour pilot episode comes in at 102 pages and should be posted sometime tonight according to Don.

Episode II Blowback and Episode III El Chango coming soon!  I'm testing the waters to see if anyone enjoys the stories.    Either case, I'm sure having fun with it.

Normally I'd caution against writing more episodes since you'll likely have to rewrite them all if the show gets picked up, but if you're doing this for kicks and to entertain people with the scripts, have at it.

Personally, I try to avoid wasting time writing something that doesn't stand a chance of getting picked up. That Knight Rider script will get written because I think the show might actually work, and that Hasselhoff reboot has to make it past the script and pilot phase. After the last failed attempt, I highly doubt it will get greenlit for anything more than the pilot. And when it flops, I'll be there with a fantastic script and my very un-Hasselhoff-like smile.

What if I simply changed the name to "Streetwise" and lost the Miami Vice reboot angle?  Will that stop all the hate?

I'm personally finding that getting features produced and trolling craigslist has been a waste of my time and life and am turning to writing for the love of it.  I'm enjoying the challenge of coming up with new concepts with a set cast of characters.

I've had five feature films fall through since 2014 including Squad Room, Charlie Charlie with Tom Sizemore, HOA, The Anarchist's Playground and The Night Watchers which was produced but never completed post-production.

To say I'm disenchanted would be putting it mildly.  Attempting an episodic series is a first for me and it's been a great writing exercise.

Take the name Miami Vice off it and don't have any connections to the old TV show, the 2005 film, or, if it gets going, the series reboot which is in development. Or you can "wait and see" what that reboot looks like, and retool your work to write a spec for that series, again if it comes to pass.

I like the direction I was going in with my own script, but unless some one wants to do it as a fan film, I don't think I can do much else with it, as I don't have rights to the IP. I could, if I so choose, to take out Thundarr and the supporting characters except for the two or three characters unique to the story (not based off any pre existing characters) and use some stuff for, say, a bunch of "new" characters, or even a "sequel" to my own short Dragons Of Ash. (which almost got made, but I think it got sidetracked and it aint ever happening)

But in my rewrite here, it remains Thundarr.
It was a nice OWC exercise, ,
