It's gonna be far and away better than Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

I mean, when has Quentin brought us anything but goodness?

Quentin just produced right....I'm pretty sure Zhang Yimou is the director.

Sorry to have to mention these films also produced by Mr. Tarantino.

  • From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money

  • From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter

  • God Said, 'Ha!'

  • Curdled

  • From Dusk Till Dawn

  • Four Rooms

  • Killing Zoe

Although Killing Zoe was not a complete disaster.

I liked all the movies you mentioned, Marla.  God Said, Ha!  the least, but I liked them all.  He executive produced them, by the way, not produced them.

Don't forget he executive produced:

Switchblade Sisters
Iron Monkey
Past Midnight
Mighty Peking Man

and a host of other films for people to insult...

Yes, Quentin is producing the U.S. release of Hero, or Ying Xiong.  Not sure of the name of the director to be honest.

He hasn't produced Hero he has made it possible for you people in the US to see Hero Uncut.

I can see Hero when ever I want the uncut version but I don't.

PS. He has not produced Hero. DS

I'd consider Quentin to be an associate producer, but fair enough.  Apparently the 20 minutes were originally cut because they were "too Asian and confusing".

He produced the US release of my favorite Lucio Fulci (and one of my favorite zombie flicks) of all time: The Beyond.

That right there is enough to make me forget about FDTD (though the first one was cool enough).

I thought Hero was so fantastically fantastic that..well, yeah.

The use of color is brilliant, the action is incredible (especially the Donnie Yen/Jet Li fight scene - I believe they haven't fought since Once Upon a Time in China II), the score is great, the lighting is great, the script is amazing, the acting is wonderful, the morals and themes...my god!

I bet Jackie Chan feels like a ding dong now.  And not in a good way.

Saw this in theaters on Sunday. I liked it even more than Crouching Tiger. Only thing I didn't like as much was the wire-fighting. It just seemed too. . . wire. It took me out of the movie for a moment. With Crouching Tiger it looked and felt so much more natural.

Still, this gets **** out of ****.

Of course, none of the wire fu took place in reality, which is I think what people get hung up on.

For the record, I thought Crouching Tiger sucked and I was ashamed for Chow Yuen Fat, who is one of my heros.  Don't even get me started on Bulletproof Monk.

I saw "Hero" yesterday.  I very much enjoyed it as did my wife who grew up on pulp kung-fu novels.  I thought it was a beautiful story, tho the story in itself is not based upon any legend that I'm familiar with.  If you are keen on the legends of the time, you might try The Emperor and the Assassin which is more true to the legend of the King of Qin (Qin pronounced more like Chin).   Regardless, I thought the movie was beautifully done.  BTW, the director of "Hero" also directed the closing ceremony of the Olympics this summer.

Written in haste,

Don
