Nicotina is a smart and stylistically sexy, not to mention, well edited drama in the vein of Tarantino's own "Pulp Fiction" with just a dash of Christopher McQuarrie's "Way of the Gun".

It takes place in the course of one night, where Lolo, a computer whiz/hacker (played by Diego Luna of "Y Tu Mama También") is told to retrieve and copy onto a CD Swiss bank account information for a trade his friend Nene is supposed to make with two Russian men.  In the meantime, he also watches and obsessses over his neighbor Andrea by recording her phone calls and watching her via cameras he's secretly placed in her apartment.

When the time comes to make the CD swap, all goes wrong and guns are pulled, sweeping Lolo into the wildest ride of his life.  Mix this in with a series of shady, offbeat characters, dark comedy and enough cigarettes to give the audience lung cancer and you have in my personal opinion the best flick out of Mexico since "Amores Perros".

A must see if you are a Tarantino fan.  It's quick paced and ironically amusing.  In fact, the only problem I would say I had with it was the ending and I felt it was rather short, clocking in only at 93 minutes.  I went into it only having heard it mentioned on the radio and reading a brief review.  But like I say, the editing is great.  Feels kind of like "Go" (if you saw that).

I promise it's worth your while.  Check it out.

9/10.

true love waits... i guess.
