This isn't a review on 'The Core', but a commentary thread about bad movies! List them here!! So, 2 hours of my life wasted watching ...'The Core' I can't believe I sat through all of "The Core" with Hillary Swank. I mean, I watched it, I knew it would be crap before I watched it and it was crap while I watched it, but I couldn't stop myself from seeing it through till the end. I mean, who the hell tries to do a movie about saving the world by venturing into the core of this planet?????! But I still felt compelled to see it through to cheesy completion. Anyone else seen any movies that are just so incredibly bad, but yet you can't help but watch to the very end? Andy |

Many times, is it odd if you come out liking it eventhough it's terrible?
Crow: Wicked Prayer is terrible but I can't help but love it. Comic Book: The Movie is even worse and yet I found myself enjoying it.
Head of State with Chris Rock is one of the worst films ever made, I've watched it 3 times and I can now say it's bad. |

Van Helsing... It's car-crash cinema at its very finest... An awful, awful movie... It's almost worth watching though for the scene when (and I kid you not) this big-budget movie made by adults has a shot of characters appearing in the clouds...
Stephen Sommers made 'Deep Rising' at one point, I weep to think what has happened to him now! |

...The royal tenenbaums.
I'm sorry I bought this dvd. Not my cup of tea at all or the type of comedy I thought it would be.
Totally bored me and I only made myself watch it cos I paid for it!!! The line up looked promosing but it didn't deliver for me. |

Heaven and Earth...it was so good I can't even remember the cast. The girl acted weird through the whole film. The majority of her actions made no sense at all. What was their big "twist"? Gasp! She has cancer and dies! No setup. No warning. No indication through the entire movie that it was coming. She just collapsed during the third act and died. Granted, she wasn't the main character, she was the love interest, and it was stupid! |

Newest Star Wars. It wasn't just a bad movie, it was an insult. Oh sure, the action sequences were visual enough, but the plot writing was so horrible that I didn't think it was possible to write that badly and get away with it. Lucas had a good story and he ruined it. The development of Anakin never reached me and it just seemed that things were happening at random and suddenly he's in this black suit with James Earl Something's voice.
It insulted me as a writer. The reason I stayed trough the end was that I wasn't alone and I would've had to wait for more than an hour for the others to come out. |

Battlefield Earth - Good Lord, whatever was John Travolta thinking here? Not only did the script suck, but the acting was just embarrassing.
Teenwolf Too - I cannot believe they screwed this up so bad. I watched it at the cinema when it came out and it sucked then and it still sucks now. I have it on DVD because it came free with Teenwolf the original. |

Halloween Resurrection: Michael Myers can die only so many times. The acting sucked, the writing sucked, the cinematography sucked, the plot sucked, the gore sucked, the visuals sucked, the actors sucked, the beginning sucked, the ending sucked, the actor selection sucked. The only good thing was when the girl took her top off for 3 seconds.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(remake): Wow, I laughed all the way during this film! I can't believe this crud scared some people! This was a comedy! I first read about this film months before its release and I was excited. Then I saw trailers, read reviews and got less excited. Then I bought this film used on DVD hoping that I would get some good gore. Nothing. Nothing at all worth mentioning in this film unless you want to laugh at some incredibly stupid people trying to be serious. It seems anything associated with Michael Bay sucks. |

House 3 - This has some of the cheesiest lines ever and the acting is just God-awful! Seriously, I can't even watch it to the end. I might even throw it away, even though it was a gift from a friend. Sheesh. I could always use it as a coaster for my coffee... what a pile of crap, do not waste your time watching this joke of a film! |

I echo every sentiment here... I've never come so close to walking out of the cinema... The expositional dialgoue between the two hospital orderlies was so inept it was laughable. |

HULK - This must be the reason why I don't go and see comic adaptated films nowadays. This just was so painful to watch. I waited to see if it got better, but nope. I thought the direction was awful too. I pray to God there isn't a sequel. Well, I wouldn't see it anyways. This was a total insult to the TV series. Man, Lou Ferigno must have been ticked off! |

House Party 3 - The movie was terrible, however, it was the most memorable film I've ever watched due to watching it in a cheap theatre on a military base to a sold out crowd of 1,000+ people and being only 1 of 6 white guys in the audience. Movie sucked. Ambience was priceless. |

I'm pretty sure I started this thread originally entitled " 2 hours of your life wasted watching..." and then the reply would be the name of the movie. How come it's now only labelled "the core" review?? That film is only in answer to the question I posed! Can anyone here help me out please?! I just don't see this as being a movie review thread at all! Thanks Andy x |

I know on some boards you can revise the name of the post on the first post, so you might be able to change it yourself. Don could definitely change it and do whatever you need to do with it...or at least he should be able to.
And I'll contribute another crappy movie... Ghosthouse - just another bad horror movie whose only point is to hack up people in non-creative ways. We have a girl and her doll who are ghosts or something that isn't fully explained. We have a couple who hear themselves being killed on their radio, so like all good idiots who hear bad premonitions, they work to fulfill them. Like all good idiots, they trespass into this old house with other random people who show up for no reason. Hack and slash, they die. I think I missed something....what was it now...oh yes, a plot!
A modification...good job on fixing the thread name. It looks like the board moderator changed it on the 18th, which explains why the 17th was the last reply on it until today. You might want to modify your first post to indicate that this isn't a core review but a commentary on bad movies. |

Yes, I agree. The prequels had to build up to the originals or else the story wouldn't climax properly, so only those who truly understand storytelling can truly appreciate how spectacular of an achievement the six star wars movies are. |

Howard The Duck Considered by many to be the worst movie of all time. I thought it was entertaining to say the least. I love laughing at it's cheesiness. Boy, this was one dumb movie. But I liked it!? Go figure. Look at my avatar. That's the Big Dark Overlord of the Universe monster thing. It was dumb fun. There we go, Perfect. |

The prequels of Star Wars are like the first half of a really freaking long movie. It would be like judging Lord of the Rings watching only the first third (3 discs for the extended editions). Many people complain about the movies and what Lucas did to them, but it's his baby. If he's happy with it, then let him be happy with it. |

I'm happy with it.
As for HOWARD THE DUCK, the first time I saw it in the movie theater, I was very young, and I was crying so loud when the snake came out of the guy's mouth ... I was crying so loud at that part that my entire family left the theater at that part. But after that, I've seen it many more times, and I really appreciate how detailed that movie is. |

Alan, I already have interest in R.T, sorry!
Howard the Duck, while maybe not the greatest movie ever made, I thought was rather fun!! I quite liked that little Ducky.
Nope, Star Wars 1+2 both send me to sleep. I cannot keep my eyes open during them.
Same goes for the Matrix. I hate that film! 3 times I have tried to watch this over-rated crap and still catch myself snoozing through it. Sorry, but not my cup of tea at all. |

The live action adaptation of the Japanese manga Casshern is 2 hours + of pure boredom... Which is such a shame as it is on of the most visually striking movies that I've seen in years.
The occasional fight scene brightens it up, but it's hobbled by under-developed characters we don't care about and illogical plot turns that are never explained - the result kicks any 'suspension of disbelief' right out of the window!
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid! |

LMAO!! I know, I must be one of the FEW who dislike this movie. I wasted good money at the cinema, especially as I slept through the last 25 minutes of it. Two more tries on DVD proved pointless I can't tolerate another second of Mr.Keanu-wooden-acting-mono-toned-Reeves anymore. With love, the Matrix-hater |

Seed of Chucky, god, I just hated that movie. The only reason I watched it was because Hannah Spearritt was on it and she's from this ABC Family show I used to watch.
I love the Matrix. I put up with Keanu Reeves and even more in the second/third ones, but Carrie-Anne Moss and Laurence Fishburne kicked a$$. Hugo Weaving, too. |

Fatherhood - with Patrick Swayze and Halle Berry! Well, I have to admit, though I was hooked from start to end, it had the most absurd storyline going on. I mean, it was ourtageously bad but it had good spirit I suppose! I really only stuck with it for Patrick, he's just gorgeous, but this movie... yeah, um, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! I can't believe I watched it all. |

'Twas like banging my head against a brick wall watching "Bad Taste"! This was complete an utter crap. I was made to watch this, with a group of guys and just totally did NOT see the appeal whatsoever! What the hell was Peter Jackson on when he made this?! Furthermore, I can't believe it has a cult following. I mean, hello people! Rubbish! There is this other movie, which I don't recall the name of, but it's about this grown assed mentally retarded man who wears a diaper and is called "baby". His mother and sister are looking after him, well, I think they abuse him... but he liked it... if I remember right, and then he gets it on with his social worker, in his diaper! It's so disturbing! I think it was made in the 60's or 70's but God, it was so weird. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it, but it's bugging me now. > I may even remember it wrong too, as I was so shocked watching it, I may have damaged myself forever!LOL! Andy |

I happened upon this thread by doing a search for Rushmore, so I'm reviving a mighty old thread, but this one can be revisited time and again, I'd say.
I can't say Matrix wasn't 2 hrs of my life wasted, as I didn't make it through a half hour before turning it off. Most boring piece of stuff ever. Except perhaps. . . .
Waterworld. Kevin Costner trying to be an action hero. Just plain awful. Just awful. |

There's only one film that I've not enjoyed even slightly and that was The Ringer.
It may not technically be the worst film ever made, but it's the worst I've evr seen. Much worse than any of the terrible low budget stuff that's around that.
Really, truly embarrassingly bad.
Some films are so bad they are funny, som efilms aren't quite bad enough to be funny and are just bad. The ringer was beyond so bad it was funny and has a level all of it's own.
In some ways it almost takes a very rare breed of genius to make a film like that. You need an Anti-Genius. |

American Pie: Beta House.
For some reason, I've watched this twice. I still have no idea why. Sure, there are lots of nice boobies in it... But that's about the film's only redeeming factor. |

Day of the Dead remake. That was more hilarious than anything I've seen recently. There's this one scene where a zombie runs along a ceiling, but they speed it up and it just looks horrible. Terrible movie, worth watching only for the unintentional laughs. |

Max Payne was the most recent boring film I've seen.
I still remember a review from my t.v. mag rated Murder At Devil's Glen 5/5. Most boring piece of crap I've ever seen. |

Oh yeah, and 100,000,000 BC. Coincidently was released around the time of 10,000 BC and it had a really cool picture of a T-Rex on the front so I was suckered into buying it...and then found out that the dinosaurs were at best, cardboard cut outs with very bad cg over it. I ended up fats forwarding it to the end. Moral of the story: don't get suckered in by the poster art. |

Saw Lost In Translation last week for the second time. The first time was four years ago and I thought the people I saw it with ruined it for me. Apparently not. It's amazing how a film that tries to pass as sweet and innocent could be so blatantly mean-spirited. |

Haha -- sounds like you got suckered in by The Asylum -- who shamlessly produce very similar-sounding films to hit films -- then picked up by suckers at the video store. I have no idea how they get away with such classics as: The Day the Earth Stopped Snakes on a Train Transmorphers The Da Vinci Treasure And the list goes on. Sounds like you learned your lesson, but be on the lookout for these clowns. |

Finally, I hear someone say this, too. All style, and absolutely no substance. Green Street 2 has a justifiable claim to worst movie ever. It's a drama about English Football fans, but it's somehow based in an LA setting - which is supposed to be London. Truly, truly awful. So awful it almost makes me angry. Andrew |

There's also this gem, which is my contribution to the topic. I knew it wasn't going to be good, but I at least expected a movie about car racing to have footage of cars going faster than 30 miles an hour. Is that so wrong? Look for footage on the internet if you want a good laugh, or check it out if you have an unlimited rental package, cause this is just downright terrible. |

Yeah, I did notice some other titles in the past like that. One was called 28 Months Later, which I looked online and was actually called Last Rites, they had just changed the title to cash in on the fact 28 weeks later was out. I saw another one called I Am Omega which was meant to rip off I Am Legend. But it was clever that they used the Omega Man in it too. |

Ah, but the Asylum gives me hope that I could create my own basement movie house and make a living at it. If they can get backing and distribution for the "studio tie-ins" they produce, then certainly one that triers to make something at least a tad more legit would have hope...right? Also, if I'm not mistaken, they do have the rather dubious distinction of having more movies in IMDB's Bottom 50 than any other studio... |

"2 G's and a Key" - possibly the worst low budget movie ever made. It's so bad, it's almost enjoyable.
Any film which has a white stunt man painted black, to pass off as a stunt double for a black acter is truly legendary. Plus, the plot of the film is totally different to the synopsis on the back of the DVD.
This film is truly, truly dreadful, but I highly recommend it (as to see what not to do). |

Not sure if I've contributed a title to this thread yet -- but I will add "Happy Go Lucky" -- as I watched this recently based on the Oscar buzz.
What a dreadful film, about a very annoying lady that goes around...well, annoying people, I guess. That seemed to be the only point. There is about 30 seconds of mildly interesting drama near the end, but the remainder just seemed like empty space.
Somebody can correct me if they enjoyed this film, but I think it is one more example of how out-of-touch the Oscars have become. |

Considering the name of the thread, it's surprsing to find so many high quality movies in it. There's not enjoying something, but anything produced to a high quality has someinterest for me (editing, cinematography, effects etc). a film is only a complete waste of time if everything in it is dire. |

So was that a knock on my bashing a Golden Globe pick -- or are you also defending Howard the Duck as a high-quality film? Either way, anybody can bust on a film starring Carrot-Top or something. No surprises there. The most interesting picks on this thread to me are some of the lesser-known -- or even critically acclaimed -- duds. |

I do have to say that while I have seen plenty of films that I hated, even films that I would never, ever want to see again, I cannot think of anything that would meet the terms of this thread and would be considered two hours of my life wasted. I even watched Synecdoche, New York recently and while it certainly came close I could never consider anything a waste of time. If all you learn from a film is what a crap film looks like then it can hardly be a waste of time, you have still learned something
I am not trying to be a smart alec here, honestly. I chose not to add to this thread for that very reason, I think anyone who aspires to be a screenwriter should be able to watch even the worst movie ever made and still take something useful away from the experience.

To contribute a film to the thread, I'm going with... The French Connection.
I mean, considering this film won several Oscars, I really must have missed something. It was boring. Really, really boring. It had some moments that were kind of interesting, but Scary Movie 2 had moments that were kinda funny, but that didn't save it from the bottom of my barrel either.
It was like, stand around and wait for the whoever. Follow him. Wait some more. Do something that doesn't make sense. Wait some more. Cool chase scene. More boring stuff. Ending that doesn't make sense.
I really didn't understand how this film won as much as it did. |

I watched it about three weeks ago myself. I wouldn't call it a waste of time, but I didn't particularly care for it. The driving instructor was the most interesting character. |

The acting is hilarious and it's not everyday you see a white girl sleep with an Asian scientist in the face of danger... a love story.
The monsters are just horribly done. Everything about them is bad. They have this lightning effect instead of any real action. |
