This is one of my fav films ever. It is just such a cool film. For anyone thtas not familiar with the story of Frankenstein., a med student back in the 18th century, creates life out of dead body parts and it goes on a reign o terror. nlike the older Farank. films, this concentrates on Elixabeths and Victopr/' relationship, making it a drama. It was very melodramatic, maybe thats why it was not a very poplaar film. ALthough, the directing was great. And yes, it is quite gross (horror-wise) in some parts. For eg. There is a part in which you se a bit Victor cutting through a dead guy's head. Not so bad. But ththere is a part, in which the monster ripps out a certain perosn's heart, not to give anything away. But i guess people like madbalt should be able to wattch it, he watches all those frickin italian horror films.  anyway, overall

5/5 the best

The first time I had ever seen this was last week when it came on AMC, and I have to agree.  It really blew away my expectations, as I has heard it was quite awful.  But I ended up enjoying it quite a bit.  The heart-tearing scene was fantastic, as was just about everyone's performance, though I really liked DeNiro as the monster.  He brought a certain level of intelligence to Frankenstein's creation that is rarely seen in the film world.  It was a bit melodramatic at times and the guy who played Victor's friend annoyed me to no end, but, as a whole, I would defiantly say this one is worth checking out, especially for fans of the original novel.
