I feel like I've commented on The Mist, as well, but it doesn't look like it.

I liked this flick, both in the theater and at home.

The ending is what made it for me.  Like others have said, how fucking ballsy is that ending?  Beautiful!  Shocking, so anti-Hollywood. Love it.  I'm a big believer in the end of a movie being key, maybe even most important, and am all for the finale, being the entire reason for the movie.

Also, like Rob, the tentacle scene really got things going on the wrong foot.  It was poor CGI, and also poorly staged.  Luckily, the human condition saved it, and kept me interested.

Good flick.  BIG MOOSE BALLS ENDING!

I remember such a thread as it was someone here who recommended I watch it B&W and not in color.

I really liked the B&W version of the film till the ending. If he killed them and it ended okay but they dwell on it and then come at you with this ending where he opens the door and realizes they were saved.

While I found the ending kind of devilish in its way, I sure wish I had watched it alone.

My wife was pissed -- really pissed -- for days afterwards.  And by default, at least a little pissed at me that I made her watch it.

She got so mad at Darabont she decided she doesn't even like Shawshank anymore.  For real.

Crazy girl.  Very polarizing stuff.

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

Do I detect who wears the trousers, bert?

The ending was just very epic. Lifted the film from good to very bloody good. Not sure I would want to watch this again, but for any screenwriter, the ending and how it was achieved is a good lesson.
