2007 hasn’t been a great year for movies, IMO, because I haven’t seen anything that’ll go down as one of my all time favourites. Plus, I’ve tended to watch TV shows on DVD rather than movies. But of the movies I have seen these were my favs.

The Lives of Others: Set in East Germany in the 80s; this was about a writer who gets targeted by a corrupt politician, because the politician takes a fancy to his actress girlfriend and wants to get him out of the way. So the politician assigns a special agent to dig up some dirt on the writer, but after awhile the agent begins to sympathise with him. Winner of the Academy’s Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

The Simpsons Movie: Carried a huge weight of expectation and came up trumps.

Apocalypto: Set in the Mayan civilization this was a terrific tale about a hero’s journey that grabbed me from the start and didn’t let go. In a word: Epic.

The Dead Girl: This was a bit of a surprise packet. I picked it up from the video store for my wife thinking it was a chicks flick, because it was directed by Karen Moncrieff and had Toni Collette and the underrated Brittany Murphy in it. It turned out to be a fresh take on the serial killer genre that looked at the intersecting lives of several people and their relationship to a murdered girl. It was actually quite sad.

Worst: The Death of a President. This was a docudrama about the about the assassination of George W. It was a boring POS and I turned it off after about 45 minutes.

Most Disappointing: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
After waiting several years for Andrew Dominik’s follow up to Chopper, I was pumped up to see this,  but walked away feeling that it was too slow and too long. The cinematography was stylish and the scenery was beautiful (you could tell Dominik was striving hard to create something epic) but it was just too introspective and dull for mine. Having said that it’ll probably go well come Oscar time because it has all the ingredients that the Academy love, but I reckon this one was less than the sum of its parts.

10 - Eastern Promises:  David Cronenberg's blood soaked thriller is one of his best since They Fly.  Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts are great and Vincent Cassel and Armin Muller Stahl are very scary as the father and son leaders of the russian mob.

9 - Knocked up/Superbad: The Sethe Rogan double punch, after watching both of these movies again I can't decide which one I like more so I put them together

8 - Zodiac: This is a great serial Killer film by David Fincher, it looks good, Robert Downey Jr. is terrific, and it moves quickly and never seems to drag.

7 - The Bourne Ultimatum: This was like Apocolypto set in present day, a 2 hr chase film that doesn't let up, Matt Damon maybe has 50 lines in the entire film but is still able to make Bourne a great action hero.

6 - 3:10 to Yuma:  This was one heck of a western, the best in my lifetime I would say, Russel Crowe chews up every scene he is in and Christian Bale is on the other side from Batman, he is very g0od here, it also has some great bloody shootouts.

5 - Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street:  One of Tim Burton's best films, this is a great looking gory freak show that is so alive and just a joy to look at, also Johnny Depp gives a terrific performance and ain't that shabby at singing either.

4 - The Lookout:  This is a very tight and intense film written and directed by Scott Frank about a mentally challenged young man who gets tricked into robbing the bank the he is the janitor of.  Jeff Daniels is very g0od as the young man's blind roommate, and this also has one scary villain, actually 2 of them.  This is a movie to look for at the DVD store.

3 - American Gangster:  Ridley Scott, Russel Crowe and Denzel Washington are in top form it this true story about one of the biggest drug dealers in the USA during the 70's and how he is brought down.  The movie is slick, well acted and well directed.

2 - No Country For Old Men: It's nice to see the Coen Bros doing what they do best, blood soaked thriller with a sense of humour, maybe not as strong as Fargo, but that would almost be impossible. This has been a good year for Josh Brolin, with this, Grindhouse and American Gangster he is now on the A list, and Javier Bardem better start on his Oscar speech because he is a shoe in as Anton Chigurh, one of the scariest bad guys in a long while.

1 - Hairspray:  I know this is not a better film than movies like No Country or American Gangster, but it is my favourite, I loved every scene and every song and dance number, John Travolta and Christopher Walken are believable as a married couple, Michekke pfeiffer is the bitch from hell,  Zac Efron, Elijah Kelly and Amanda Byrnes give the film a lot of energy, Queen Latifah has a great presence in the film and one hell of a voice, and Nikki Blonskey, who I never seen or heard of before is wonderful in the lead.  Anyways I was surprised how much I liked this movie, I was smiling through the whole thing and the songs were all top notch, not a stinker in the batch.

Other G0od films: The Mist,  Transformers, 300, Grindhouse, Alpha Dog, Hot fuzz, Live free or Die hard(R rated version), 30 days of night, Shoot em up, Disturbia

THE WORST:

5 - Hitman: A very bland and boring action film that has nothing new or any exciting action sequences or a sense of humour, or even a silliness to it, worst action film of the year by far.

4 - Epic Movie: The worst spoof movie ever made, makes spy hard look like a masterpiece.

3 - Hostel Part 2:  Not as bad as the original, but it is still God awful, no g0od kills other than a castration, no interesting characters, funny dialogue, it isn't even dopey enough to enjoy, it's bad on all levels.

2 - The Invasion:  Never has such talent been wasted on screen, two terrific actors, kidman and craig, stuck in an empty, boring, dull, sci fi thriller, a movie about vomit martians that has not one scene of suspense and the actors seemed just as bored making this as the audience did watching it.

1 - Sicko: The worst documentary ever made, filled with lies disguised as truths, it is so miss informed and manipulative, and it's not even funny, at least fahrenheit 911 was amusing with it's stupidity, this doesn't even have that, just a fat commie asshole with a camera.

So my top ten of 2007 is actually a top 9 due to a certain Paul Thomas Anderson film that came out this week and I have not seen yet. As it is officially a 2007 movie and is sure to figure very near the top of this list I did not want to make a list of 10 and have to remove one later on.

1 - No Country For Old Men

Just when you thought the Coen brothers star had faded they come up with this masterpiece, I have watched it three times now and cannot get enough. What a brilliant movie, easily their best yet and probably in my top ten of all time.

2 - Juno

Funny, different, great script and fantastic cast.

3 - The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

For some strange reason this has been totally overlooked in the US, Warner Brothers seemed to have disowned it and never gave it a chance. Yet in Europe it has done very well, Mark Kermode (a top UK movie critic) has named it as his best film of the year - something that has raised many eyebrows in the US. I thought it was great, Casey Affleck was outstanding and should get the oscar for his performance.  This could be the new Shawshank Redemption, watch it become a classic when people start getting the DVD.

4 - Leben der Anderen, Das (The Lives of Others)

Not sure if this is a 2007 movie or not, It won the Oscar last year for best foreign language film so maybe a 2006 movie. But as the Oscar got it out in the cinemas I guess it is a 2007 discovery - whatever it really is a masterful movie, very engaging, very well written and a must for anyone who loves movies.

5 - Zodiac

A serial killer movie with a difference, shame it came out so early in the year as it probably would have had more of a chance at the awards if it was more recent. Very well written, great script - worth a read.

6 - Eastern Promises

Worth it alone for the bath house scene, fantastic. Kudos to Viggo for agreeing to do that scene - he must love Cronenberg, I do - really good movie.

7 - Once

Irish busker meets polish girl, fixes her hoover, falls in love, writes her a song. This is probably one of the cheapest movies ever to appear in my end of year favorites. I spend more money on a night out that it cost to make this movie but it really is wonderful. Bit of a chick flick i guess but sometimes I like them.

8 - Before The Devil Knows You're Dead

Over 80 years old and Sydney Lumet is still making films like this, brilliant. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is such a presence i cannot keep my eyes off of him when he is on the screen. This really is a great story - the kind of story I have been looking for.

9 - Eagle vs Shark

A New Zealand comedy about two very dysfunctional people falling in love, very funny, very quirky and some really great dialogue. I found this film by accident and so glad i did, really one of the highlights of my movie year.

I'm glad to see HAIRSPRAY and SWEENEY TODD on the list!

I don't think I saw ten new films this year.

Best (in no particular order)

300 - Blood, carnage, bodyparts - what more could you ask for?
I Am Legend - Will Smith turns in a performance of a life time. Great entertainment.
3:10 To Yuma - And I though Westerns were deader than Elvis, I was way off. Awesome flick.
Zodiac - Finally something new from Fincher. It was worth the wait.
The Bourne Ultimatum - Probably the most fast paced movie ever. Damon is getting better and better. Great action, keeps you winded.
Ratatouille - Nice and cute.
Wild Hogs - Funny as hell!
Breach - Chris Cooper steals the show in a very suspenseful flick.
Mr. Brooks - Kevin isd back - and he's going to fucking kill you!
Sunshine - Different kind of sci-fi flick. Works surprisingly well.

Worst (again, in no particular order)

Hannibal Rising - Hannibal Lecther reduced to Jason Vorheers...fuck off!
Perfect Stranger - Nice cast but just plain old boring.
Ghost Rider - Disaster 'R us
Pirates Of The Caribbean - At World's End - Pointless!
The Number 23 - Could have been so much better. But in the end the plot twist just starting tripping over each other.

Okay, I said this list was in no particular order. Well, I fucking lied. The worst movie I have watched in 2007 is...

Death Proof - The only thing keeping me awake during this movie was Kurt Russel, and he's only in it for like twenty minutes combined. Other than that you have senety minutes of utterly pointless and mindblowingly boring dialogue. All we hear about is these bitches and who they've been fucking and not. Kurt should have fucking killed all of them. In fact, I hope they invent a machine that can zap you inside a movie, cos' then I'd blow all these fucking cunts heads off - save Kurt the trouble. Can't you sue somebody for stealing ninety minutes of your life - I mean there oughta be a law against that. Quentin Tarantino, please, let George Lucas write the scriupt for your next film - it can't get any worse than this you cocksucker.

The Best:

1. Pan's Labyrinth - Original story, imaginative imagery, and a solid balance between fantasy and realism. This one had it all. A perfect film.

2. Superbad - Hands down, the funniest movie ever not to mention smart, thoughtful, and even (dare I say?) touching. The two leads are the future kings of comedy and McLovin is the man.

3. Eastern Promises - A different take on the gangster genre with solid acting and character development. Also, the most brutal fight/death scene of the year, in a bath house of all places.

4. 1408 - One of the better King adaptations with surprisingly good acting from John Cusack and a creepy old school feel that no other horror movie had this year.

5. Knocked Up - Not as funny as Superbad (not even close) but had a lot of the same things going for it. This was the year of Judd Apatow. I hope he sticks around for a while.

Honorable mention: Hot Fuzz - Not as funny as Shaun of the Dead but close enough. Lots of laughs and a directing style that mimics Michael Bay perfectly and pokes fun at his movies at the same time.

The Worst:

1. Epic Movie - The worst movie ever made. I still want that hour and a half of my life back. Seriously. The jokes were either several years too late, tired rap/MTV style gags in the Mad TV vein (Mad TV is the bottom of the comedy barrel), or just carbon copies from the comedy movies they try to spoof. An Uwe Boll movie would be better time spent. Stay away!

2. Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer - Some of the worst one liners in movie history and cliche action/CGI sequences that everyone else has done better.

3. I Think I Love My Wife - As depressing as Salo and Schindler's List. After watching this movie, I had serious doubts about ever getting married. I can't believe this was supposed to be a comedy. Even Chris Rock's Viagra mishap is better fit for Hostel III.

4. Primeval - Terrible CGI, bad acting, and cliche characters. It's not easy to make a boring creacher feature, even if it is easy to make a bad one.

5. Halloween - An absolute butchery of the original. Virtually every horror movie/serial killer cliche strung together with Devil's Rejects filling in the blanks. Even worse, Zombie wastes perfectly good actors and horror legends with bad writing. He paid Ken Foree to take a shit and get stabbed in less than five minutes. This guy was the zombie slayer in the original DOTD for fuck's sake. Not even Malcolm McDowell could save this flick.

Honorable mention: 300 - CGI and slow motion so masturbatory, you'll need a Kleenex. Plus I kept thinking Gerald Butler needs to shut the fuck up. Shouting at the top of your lungs doesn't make you a good actor. This wasn't an action movie. This was a cartoon. 300 is living proof that George Lucas and his Industrial Light & Magic are destroying Hollywood.

Hey,

I haven't seen all the movies I wanted to see this year. There were a lot of smaller movies that I haven't gotten the chance to see yet, but thus far, of what I've seen(admittedly I was reaching towards the end):

1. No Country for Old Men- awesome movie, by far the best I've seen this year, probably at the bottom of my top ten all time list.

2. 3:10 to Yuma- very solid, better then the original, great themes, touching

3. Ratatouille- nice, cute, good message, entertaining, great animation

4. Knocked Up- hilarious and touching

5. Superbad- hilarious and regrettably very identifiable

6. 300- Awesome. And at James, yes it was masturbatory and I love it for unabashedly being so. It also had, dare I say it, the most memorable lines I dialog of any movie this year.

7. American Gangster- liked it a lot until the third act, well put together, some memorable scenes

8. Grindhouse(minus Death Proof)- Great, interesting concept, funny, awesome, death proof was disapointing.

9. Sweeny Todd- Great looking, entertaining movie, with some nice songs, good for a musical

10. Charlie Wilson’s War- Smart, funny, relevant, great characters

Honorable Mention: Beowulf in 3D IMAX- Visually a different experience from anything else I'd seen. It was overwhelming. My eyes hurt after this (in a good way.)

WORST AND MOST DISAPPOINTING:

Spider-Man 3- I was so invested in this... He's like my childhood hero... Venom was also going to be in it! He was like also one of my favorite Spider-man villains...

I wanted to take my life after this movie.

Here we go-- some of the better movies I've seen this year:

1408: James already commented about this one and I agree with him entirely.  John Cusack's performance had a lot more going for it than just good acting.  Somehow he managed to place the comedy into an otherwise scary show.  He really did a marvelous job with this one.  After seeing this movie, one will never listen to The Carpenter's song, "We've Only Just Begun" in the same way.

Bourne Ultimatum: The fast pace of this movie is unforgettable.

Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix: This was an interesting adaptation suitable for a wide audience.  A Disney flavor was injected into it.  It played more with comedy than the book, but they accomplished a lot in the limited time.

Stardust was a beautiful fairytale movie.

License To Wed: I don't think there's ever been a Robin Williams movie I didn't like.  The Father doesn't make things easy on this couple going through pre-marriage training.

Oh yes...

The Astronaut  Farmer: The premise may be unrealistic, but it's a wonderful movie about a dream and to watch the children "Be Themselves" in this movie is the magic of childhood and more dreams.

Happy New Year everyone!

Sandra

Top 10 Greatest Films

1). Pans Labyrinth

Possibly one of the greatest movies I have seen in YEARS. It was beautiful acted and the atmosphere of the film was creepy. The characters were awesome. Ugh.. I cannot say ENOUGH GOOD things about this film.

2). Juno

THE FUNNIEST FILM of the year. I think, in my opinion. It was great and gracefully written. The quirky and offbeat dialog was one of the best things about it. The mixture of comedy and drama was blended together better then any other dramady that I have seen.

3). The Simpsons Movie

I was very huge expectations for this film, and was still blown away.

4). The Lookout

A great character-driven film, Joseph-Gordon Levitt is still awesome.

5). Across the Universe

Trippy acid like film, great stuff.

6). Live Free or Die Hard

Great plot, Justin Long is incredibly awesome.

7). Lars and the Real Girl

Ryan Gosling sure knows how to pick 'em.

. No Country for Old Men

Another Coen Brothers great. Kept me interested the whole time, and when the film ended -- I wanted more.

9). Waitress

Eh. I don't know why I like this one, but I just do. Its like -- it drew me in and I couldn't stop watching.

10). Grindhouse: Planet Terror

Planet Terror was fun, bloody, and just great. The acting was incredibly and cheesy, which I'm pretty sure thats what they were going for.

I'm seeing No Country For Old Men popping up a lot. I wanted to see it but never got a chance. It's one of the best reviewed films of the year and looks like the Coen Bros. are making up for some of the crapollas they've churned out these past few years. I think I might have to edit my list after seeing it.

SPOILERS...

From the movies I've watched this year (I counted... around 120 total, not including hours of TV series)

The Best:

10. Mr. Brooks - Had the potential to be better, but nonetheless a great study of a serial killer. Kevin Costner is superb.

9. Alpha Dog - Great acting. I didn't know the true story, so I was glued to the story. Great pace, great dialogue, strong story.

8. Knocked Up - Seth Rogan's coming out party. High concept fun. Paul Rudd steals many scenes.

7. Superbad - Seth's follow up. Great high-school comedy laced with vulgarity and language and I'm glad they kept it all in.

6. The Simpsons Movie - Long awaited movie delivers. Some great inside jokes and very subtle nudges at today's society. Filled with nods to hardcore fans.

5. 28 Weeks Later - Very rare to find sequals that best the original. This one comes mighty close. It has the balls to break the rules and sets us up for more.

4. No Country For Old Men - Coen Brothers at their best. Fantastically shot (Roger Deakins), perfectly acted and great dialogue. A little ambigious, but a great study of pure evil and the uncertainty of life and death.

3. Zodiac - David Fincher back at his best. A great study of the famous serial killer, but more importantly, a great study in obsession and it's results. Jake Gyllenhall is superb as Robert Graysmith.

2. Bug - The perfect study of paranoia. Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon give superb performances that unnerves the viewer. Is it real? Is it fake? Is it paranoia? I don't know, but it sure is genius.

1. Hot Fuzz - Simon Pegg and Nick Frost return in Edgar Wright directed homage to buddy cop movies. The script is so subtle in it's structure, that it takes multiple viewings to see how strong it actually is. Again, fantastic gags and comedy from Pegg and Frost, an all-star cast and action galore. Brilliant.

The Worst

(Not sure if all of these are classified 2007, but...)

7. Evan Almighty - Poor follow-up. Bland comedy and action.
6. Firewall - Offers nothing remotely new to genre. Believability issues.
5. Flyboys - Unbelievable Hollywood twist of the real heroes of WWI.
4. The Dark - Sean Bean stands out in poor horror. Offers nothing new.
3. Mr. Bean's Holiday - Lack of story and unfunny. The best is over for Bean.
2. Night Skies - Great opening, terrible story/acting/plot... even for a no-budget.
1. The Fountain - Convulated mess of a story that makes no sense upon first viewing. Hated it.

On The Fence

1408 - One of my favourite Stephen King short stories. Lost pace in the latter stages.
The Bourne Ultimatum - Still not sure if this was a great movie. Hated Greengrass' handheld action sequences.
30 Days of Night - Some great moments and concept. Well shot. Poor 3rd Act and resolution.
Pirates 3 - Story is one big mess. Jack Sparrow's purgatory slows the pace to a crawl. But still had it's fun moments.
Transformers - Upon first watch, loved it. But once the hysteria died, realized the lack of story and messy action sequences.
Disturbia - Well acted, but lacked a stronger story and the bite of a dark thriller.

I'm gonna have to edit this post for my favorite films after I've seen No Country and There will be Blood. However, I'm pretty sure I can name some of the worst filsm, or at least biggest disappointments of the year.

Let it be said that I don't seek out movies I think will be bad, so every film I've seen in 07 was in anticipation of at least good entertainment. These weren't:

Death Proof
Transformers
Spiderman 3
House on Haunted Hill 2
The Simpsons Movie

"The Flux capacitor. It's what makes time travel possible."

The Mute (short)
The Pool (short)
Tall Tales (short)

Hey,

Quoted from Sniper
Death Proof - The only thing keeping me awake during this movie was Kurt Russel, and he's only in it for like twenty minutes combined. Other than that you have senety minutes of utterly pointless and mindblowingly boring dialogue. All we hear about is these bitches and who they've been f*****g and not.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I was really bored/annoyed(angered eventually) with their dialog. I had a friend of mine go to the restroom during the movie and came back like 15 mins later and they were still blabbing their heads off.

The only thing is I don't know I can say that it is bad for that. Grindhouse was a concept movie where they were trying to imitate those old exploitation movies. A lot of those movies were like that, with mindblowing boring/bad crap dialog. I'm not saying this dialog is worthy of praise, I think it was a bad choice if thats what he was going for, I'm just saying it's something to be considered.

For me though, while I was watching it, I thought he was doing it to get us to hate them. And it worked, I absolutely hated them by the end, he could have redeemed the entire thing if...

Quoted from Sniper
Kurt should have f*****g killed all of them. In fact, I hope they invent a machine that can zap you inside a movie, cos' then I'd blow all these f*****g cunts heads off - save Kurt the trouble.

Exactly. Stunt man Mike should have ripped their heads off. It would have been such a huge payoff if he did. I wanted him to kill them so, so, bad. But no. No, I was robbed. Instead we get 10 minutes of those bitches slapping Stunt Man mike around.

Quoted from Sniper
Quentin Tarantino, please, let George Lucas write the scriupt for your next film

Whoa! Whhoa buddy. I didn't like Death Proof either, but Lucas? After the latest Star War trilogy I don't know if Lucas should be allowed to touch pen to paper ever again. He shouldn't even sign checks. He should get a stamp or something.

Quoted from Sniper
it can't get any worse than this you cocksucker.

I'm gonna hold off on posting the best, still a couple that haven't come out here yet that I need to see.

But the worst I can do. I try to avoid bad movies, but I've seen a few, so here's my top six:

6.   THE INVASION
This was an empty, cold movie. I felt as though it were made by a machine. It?s so heartless, so mechanical and technical; there?s no spirit, no soul. It was a horrible movie to watch, and it looked like it was horrible to make. Not even some fancy rewrites by Larry and Andy Wachowski could save this clunker from sinking. It?s just a stupid, cold-hearted mess with two terrific actors at the centre of it all, totally wasted. With the likes of Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig involved it should have been a great alien invasion flick, instead it?s just crap.

5.   MR. BEAN'S HOLIDAY
The first film wasn?t exactly a masterpiece, but it had a handful of decent laughs, and the series was always good for a few chuckles. I have no idea whose idea it was to make a sequel, but they deserve to be shot. Mr. Bean?s Holiday is absolutely horribly in every molecule of its being. Rowan Atkinson is a great comedic actor, but his skills and the charm of his most famous character are totally wasted here. The screenplay doesn?t give him anything to do, and it doesn?t contain a single joke that I haven?t seen in other comedies. The direction and cinematography are way more proficient than the movie deserves; there are some stunning aerial shots of the French countryside and of Cannes, but that?s the only compliment I can give this movie. Mr. Bean?s Holiday fails on all levels.

4.   FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER
This was just as idiotic as Spider-Man 3, but Rise of the Silver Surfer is at least fifty minutes shorter and has about two less villains, so it?s a step up from the former. Jessica Alba is sure having a crappy career year, first Good Luck Chuck and now this. What a waste of talent. ROFSS basically has all the same problems as the first FF movie: too much action, not enough character development and no sense of there really being anything at stake. I never felt like any of the heroes were in any real danger, even though one of them was skewered through the chest and is killed, they are immediately brought back to life. There?s just no logic in any of it.

3.   SPIDER-MAN 3
I?ve never liked any of the Spider-Man movies and this one was easily the worst. Everything took a step backwards from the second installment; the actions sequences became over the top and cartoony, even for a comic book movie, the performances and character relationships became boring and less interesting. There were too many villains, too many storylines and the whole thing was just a mess from start to finish. Thomas Hayden Church was very underused, he wasn?t given any time to develop a character we could empathize with and Topher Grace was just ridiculous as Venom. The worst part of the film, however, was the dark-Peter Parker sequences. These were disappointing because they had so much potential. I wanted Raimi and the other writers to take him to incredibly dark places, have him do things that were dangerous and unforgivable, have him really hurt the ones he love, put some real effing conflict in there. Instead, we get some pathetic, emo punk shithead eating cookies and dancing in the street. What a wanker. This was just a terrible movie.

2.   RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION
This was even more brainless, nonsensical and idiotic than its predecessor, and that is saying something. There wasn?t even a plot. Alice rides around the desert on a motorcycle, killing things with her magical powers and her really big guns. Then she hooks up with a desert convey headed for Alaska (where there is apparently a colony of survivors) and then somehow they all end up in Vegas, where there?s more zombies and more shooting and more of Paul W.S. Anderson?s trademark, unintelligent dialog. This was really a god-awful movie without a single redeeming feature, made even worse by the fact that the ending is an obvious set-up for Resident Evil 4. It?s shameless, brainless and boring.

1.   GOOD LUCK CHUCK
This was an absolute waste of time. The title doesn?t even make sense. Dane Cook?s character isn?t even called Chuck, his name is Charlie. And I know that Chuck can be an abbreviation of Charlie, but he is only ever referred to as Chuck once in the entire film, every one else calls him Charlie. Jessica Alba is horribly flat and wooden, playing a tired, one-note joke all the way through. I was sick of her after about five minutes wish she would just go away. Sure, she is good to look at, but there was nothing else there. None of the jokes are funny, none of the performances are any good and the direction from first-timer Mark Helfrich was sloppy and unfocused. The writer, Josh Stolberg, needs a better source of inspiration, or a change of career. This movie made me depressed.
