Ok, so 'Das Experiment' is a German film I watched last night. I'm not fluent in German but a loose translation of the title for you all is 'The Experiment'.

The film starts with Tarek Fahd (a taxi driver and freelance journalist) reading a newspaper advert for volunteers for a psychological experiment. The experiment lasts for 2 weeks and will be a simulation of prison life. Half the volunteers will be guards/half inmates. Tarek agrees to the experiment and to do a story about it for the local newspaper.

Things start off very jovial in the prison simulation as the inmates and guards jossle for dominance. However, when Tarek starts to push things there is a quick shift in mood.

This was a very dark story, with some extremely disturbing scenes. The idea was very smart but some of the acting was a let down. The lead character 'Moritz Bleibtreu' is very good as Tarek. His only other film I've seen being 'Munich'.

Definately worth a watch if you like dark stories but I just felt it could do with a remake. Just with a better overall cast and better dialogue in certain places this could be a top film.
