The Incredible Hulk is probably the best surprise so far this summer. I knew Iron man was going to be good, and I knew Indiana Jones was gonna kick ass, this one I was kinda iffy on, but once the opening credits started I knew this was gonna be a fun flick.
If you are a fan of the original TV show you will probably really like this, the opening credits are very similar to the opening of the TV show, it gives us all the information we need.
The story is like the show, Bruce Banner is in hiding trying to figure out a cure and is soon hunted by the people who turned him into the Hulk in the first place.
Tim Roth plays Emil Blonsky, a soldier hired to bring Bruce Banner in. He wants the power that the Hulk has and has himself injected with they serum which later causes him to become the Abomination.
All the actors are top notch. Edward Norton is terrific as Banner, Tim Roth is a great adversary, William Hurt and Liv Tyler are also very good.
I am one of the few that liked the last Hulk movie, I thought the editing and the human characters were interesting, but the Hulk stuff was so cartoonish it was hard to get into that part of the story. This time both sides work. The Hulk looks a lot better, he's not as green and not as big. The action scenes here are spectacular, there is a lot of cool stuff going on here, I really liked the fight between Blonsky and the Hulk.
The last act of the film is one long fight between the Hulk and the Abomination and it is a good fight, the two go at each other for about 25 minutes.
In the end I was very entertained, the human story and the Hulk story worked well, plus it has the theme from the TV show in it which is a plus, and the best is when you hear the Hulk utter the lines "Hulk SMASH" I was grinning from ear to ear. And of course the appearance from Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark doesn't hurt. This is great Hollywood entertainment.
Saw this movie yesterday and I wasn't disappointed. I'm currently watching the last Hulk on the TV just now, but I will agree the new one is a lot better. When reading about Ed Norton being cast as The Hulk, i was kinda sceptical because I'd never seen him in a role like that, but he did great, and so does Liv Tyler and Tim Roth. I liked the stance the writer took on the plot, not concerning with how he got that way but with how he is trying to cope with his "condition". Also good little subplot with the relatinship between Liv Tyler character and Bruce Banner.
And I'll agree with Jordan, the "Hulk Smash!!" line made me grin like an idiot.
