So... I was at the local video store today and was looking for something cheap. They had Titanic on sale for five dollars, and I had only seen it once before(in theaters when I was eight). I snagged it up and went home preparing to watch a good disaster flick. What I got instead was something far more special.

I'm not gonna lie... I cried. I'm still crying(sniffling really). And you know what, I'm not afraid to admit it. In my opinion this is the most amazing love story ever told. How Leo and Kate didn't win Academy Awards for their performances is beyond me.

I'm almost at a loss for words. I don't see how anyone could not like this movie. James Cameron puts forth an excellent directing and writing job. The acting is all around great. And the effects are good ever by todays standards. I would give anything to see this in theaters again.

So yeah... I give this film a 10 out of 10. James Cameron is my new favorite director(he was already high on my list). This is a classic. If you haven't seen it in awhile, do yourself a favor and revisit it. Who knows, you may shed some tears of your own.

I am not crazy about that movie. Now, I did like it--but I felt it emphasized more on the romance of the young couple and not enough on the tradgedy itself.

Putting that aside, towards the climax, the movie did a complete 180 and turned from a rather good love story, to a trashy action/thriller flick. Hell, when that thing fell on top of Jack's friend, I can honestly say that I laughed out loud, and I actually liked the character. It felt like a scene from a B-Movie somehow, magically  sneaked its way into a romance film. Only towards the end did the movie pick up where it left off, on a more emotional route.

That being said, the acting from most of the cast was very good, and the film itself was excellently-made. CGI is a little bit obvious, but pretty damn good for its time. I definitely enjoyed the movie, but felt that it could've been more emotional than it was.

I gave it a 7/10. I do not like Romance/Drama movies, but Titanic actually managed to keep my interest and I was not bored once as I watched it. It was a very good movie, just not as good as it could've been.

I must admit I didn't dig it the first time I saw it but it grew on me and really like it now.

The first time I saw it I didn't have any children and I didn't cry. The next time I saw it my first son had been born and this time I cried like a girl. Go figure.

Far too soppy as far as I was concerned and almost distateful in the way it used the disaster to tell such a silly, American style Romance. I actually wanted Di Caprio to die by the end of it, it was taking so long for him to pass away and the fact he didn't try harder to get on the float was somewhat laughable.

A lot of the story also felt forced and unrealistic, like the token "bad guy" whose character seemed very unmotivated and extreme. (Based on a quite heroic character in real life as well. I know they're movies, but it's upsetting when they pervert real life and cause offence to living people. They should at least use fictional names).

It's a shame that the film did so well in a way, it seems to have stopped Cameron making anything and he's one of the best Directors around. I realise he's got some stuff on the way soon, but it's been too long.

A very ambitious attempt and there are some memorable moments in it, just didn't work for me. I was glad to get out of the cinema.

One of those films that tend to divide opinion.

I thought it was a good movie, but not worth all the attention it received.  I can't understand why anyone would want to see it a second time.  I'd rather watch DiCamprio in Romeo and Juliet a second and third time (it's the same story, anyway).

Shortly after the movie came out, and it as learned how teen girls were seeing it four and five times each, I started seeing t-shirts that read The ship sank.  Get over it.

I thought it was a girly movie, too, but I saw it on my shelf and decided to watch it again. Now, I skipped over the first hour and a half because I mostly wanted to watch it for the sinking ship part. I decided to watch it because there was a show about the ship and it made me interested.


Though, after the movie was over, I suddenly felt depressed. Not because Jack died, but because it actually happened and thousands of people were killed. And the very end of the movie was amazing when everyone who died on the ship was in the main stairwell and Rose and Jack met up once again, and that's when I got all sad, ha ha. I even went onto Facebook and made my status say, "Sean thinks it feels good to be alive." Dramatic, I know, but it's a very well made movie; it's way ahead of its time, just like Starship Troopers (the effects in that movie were amazing!)

That's a great film. Verhoeven has a great knack of bringing depth to what could easily be silly stories in lesser Directors hands. Robocop was the same. It's still fresh today.

Titanic is a guilty pleasure for me, I'll admit it.  I first saw it when I was 10 and didn't think much of it at the time.  Saw it again in its entirety a couple Thanksgivings ago and really enjoyed it(even if its running time was about 4 hours on TNT).  The writing sucks in a lot of areas, but I liked the love story and thought the sinking was very well done.

Ha-ha.  A lot of people rip him on this.  But in all fairness, the door nearly flipped over when he tried to get on!

I know, but if you're going to freeze to death, you'd try a little bit harder. Or at least find something else afloat. It just came across as very manipulated and unrealistic to me. Maybe if he had a severe injury or something that meant he was going to die anyway or some other justification, it just seemed ridiculous.

Like I said before, it's just one of those films that people either loved or hated. : )

What about Aquaman? That thing was huge.


I thought it was funny reading some of the initial reviews for Australia, people were actually saying it could be the new Titanic. Looks like they were right, sunk and drowned LOL.

I've never heard of Aquaman.

Okay, It's is a fictional movie from the TV show Entourage, biggest movie in history though.

If you have not seen Entourage I would really recommend it, Hilarious show about an up and coming actor and his posse trying to make it in Hollywood. Loads of great cameo's, James Cameron was in it for a few episodes while they were filming Aquaman.

The best character by far though is Ari Gold, Vincent Chase's agent, easily the funniest character on TV ever....

That's probably the best thing I've read all day. haha

I have to admit than anything maudlin and angst-ridden is always gonna get me. And there's barely a movie around more maudlin and angst-ridden than Titanic. It's corny and there are some truly terrible lines in this flick, but it's pure cinema. And I've always loved it.

You may have liked the original, but I doubt you'll like the sequel.
