Unable to find a thread on this, which did surprise me.

Just wondering what the good folk of SS made of this film?

It is easily one of my all-time faves. The cinematography was beautiful; the script better; and we saw a real tour de force from Heath.

Anyone agree?

I loved it.  Saw it twice and it was just as powerful each time.

I know a lot of people cried foul because of the scene with Jake G. in Mexico, but that didn't really ruin it for me.

... And the Oscar goes to ... Heath Ledger!! Cue thunderous applause. Bravo, whoah, woohoo!! Wha.. What!! He didn't get it?? Well he should have! Boo! Ripped off!!

A must-see for everyone imo. Yep, beautifully filmed, acted, oscar-worthy screenplay adaptation - all of it. It's essentially a love story - but then, so much more.  Don't let anyone tell you it's just a "gay cowboy movie"! If you haven't seen it, see it.

I concur! The more contentious decision was the 'Best Movie' selection. Personally, I loved both but that caused a few IMDb arguments!

Aye, I've watched it a few times, and what a great turnaround it was for Ang Lee.
