After waiting for years and years and years, I finally saw Taxidermia yesterday. Taxidermia, unlike the repulsive mess of Pink Flamingos, mixes beauty with ugliness to make a film that has an inner meaning. What is the inner meaning? I have no clue. It is one of those films that you have to interpret in order to love.

I can't tell much about the story line. It is basically about 3 generations of men who are, well, weird. That is the basic premise. This is one of those films that is strictly for "art-house" moviegoers. If you like Transformers, this is most likely not for you at all.

I have to also warn people, who get the chance to see Taxidermia, that this film is extremely graphic. I wouldn't go as far as to say it is as graphic as Salo, but if you can't stand Hostel and Saw, you might want to skip this one.

Another thing I have to say about this film is that it had amazing cinematography. I was blown away at how good the camerawork was.

Overall, this is a great film, but not for everyone. It is in very limited release right now, so you will most likely have to wait for it on dvd to see it. I live in California and it was (and still is) playing at a Nuart theater near me. I would rate Taxidermia 9/10.

I wouldn't say "Extremely" graphic.. "extremely" graphic is like "Gore Gore Girls" or some of H.G. Lewis' many offerings. Taxidermia was relatively tame for the most part... There were a few scenes that made ya say "hmmmm" -- the cat scene, for one.

But in the end, you're right... Only very Art-house movie goers will like it. Or maybe even understand its true meaning.

Maybe the version I saw was lesser of a movie than the one you and many others have seen, but it didn't get to me.

Well, I didn't find it very graphic myself, but before entering the theater there were huge signs that said "This film is very graphic - this is a warning." I thought it would be nice to warn people unless they are not use to what is inside the film.

I view Taxidermia as a love it or hate it film. You seem like one of the few people who is in the middle, judging from your reply.
