Rooney Mara has got to be the most boring final girl I've ever seen. And I've seen tons.
Katie. Cassidy. YESSSSSSS! Wish she was in the movie more. SPOILERS:It starts off pretty well but once Kris (katie Cassidy) and her boyfriend Jesse (Thomas Dekker) are voted off of Elm Street we are left with the most boring duo I've seen in my recent horror memory. SPOILER END.
Jackie Earle Haley does a really good job as per usual but I miss Robert Englund. Nostalgia goggles. Some really slick visuals and notable twists of classic Elm Street (1984) sequences. It felt really rushed which meant less time with the characters than in the original series of movies. Even the worst of them(Freddy's Dead), you got to know the kids even just a little bit. I really didn't feel for these guys at all. LOTS of jump scares punctuated by loud music cues. Only a few worked. Wish there was more actual suspense. Never got the sense of desperation from the kids to stay awake. There wasn't a feel of togetherness of the kids bonding through their crazy ordeal. Wish there were more imaginative dream sequences. Freddy reused many of his lines from the previous movies instead of having new ones. None of the deaths are at all imaginative and could've very well happened in the real world. I did like the darker tone and Freddy is a lot more serious and disgusting here. Many scenes that I saw in the trailers never happened. The middle section is a bit boring. I just wish more time was taken to really flesh this out. It just felt rushed. I feel this didn't really live up to it's potential but I appreciated the effort. I liked it but at the same time I didn't. More Katie Cassidy please. The film was at it's best while following her. 5.5 or 6 out of 10.

I completely disagree with you. I thought the beginning was bad and overly rushed, but once Kris and Jesse were killed the story slowed down and got much more interesting. Overall it was a pretty good effort and I'm glad they tried to put a new twist on the character. While not as good as the original, easily better than ALL of the sequels. Good show.

I wouldn't hold her responsible for that. She played a thin character who was meant to be portrayed as a monotone bore. Pretty much all of the characters were the same way.

Anyway, I thought the movie was just okay. Better than ANOES2/5/6 for sure from a technical-standpoint, but it's probably the most bland entry in the series. I don't see myself remembering anything from this movie in a week or so. Nothing about it was horrendous, but everything about it felt watered-down and ordinary.

I'm not sure how I felt about this movie, saw it last night. It had its moments, I didn't really like how they set everything up but I thought the ending picked up pretty well. It kept me entertained but I was overall pretty disappointed, the trailers promised more for me and I just thought there was so much potential with what they could of done with it yet they chose such a mediocre route. I don't understand the love for Katie Cassidy to be honest, I really don't think she did that good of a job, she was kind of annoying but she seems to have a following somehow. The movie had that classic horror feel though, which hasn't been in too many movies as of recently so I guess that was kind of fun, I had a good time but it's definitely nothing special.

What good are choices if they're all bad?

If this even got near New Nightmare (especially) or Dream Warriors in terms of being any good, they must've filmed a COMPLETELY different script from the one I read...

Artless, brainless, talentless trash, bereft of creativity, style, or anything else enjoyable.  Dark and gritty reboots are by and large idiotic (with all due exception to Christopher Nolan), and this is by far the worst of them all, removing the fun from the franchise while failing to replace it with anything worthwhile whatsoever.  Freddy's lack of creativity makes him seem like a pathetic excuse for a Voorhees knockoff, while the cast, writer, and director work together to create some of the most mind-numbingly moronic dialogue sequences in recent memory.  Offensively loud and totally devoid of anything that could be considered horror, this is not only worse than every Nightmare including 2 and VS Jason, but worse than any film I have seen in theatre in my entire life.

Freddy's makeup sucked.  The kills sucked.  The "scares" were non-existent.  The direction sucked.  The photography sucked.  The sound was incredibly obnoxious.  Everyone involved creatively in any way with this film did an absolutely terrible job.  The movie is a product of big business and it shows in every boring, suck-ass frame of this artless piece of pandering, pop-culture filth.  Do yourself a favour and go see Girl with the Dragon Tattoo instead.

It's a Platinum Dunes production, what d'you expect? Logic dictates that - since they suck - everything they make will suck even more. These guys make Uwe Boll look visionary - and that should really not be even remotely possible.

Correct.

I guess I hadn't been specifically familiar with Platinum Dunes before.  I checked out their site.  I didn't bother with any of that other bilge they produced, but I like Freddy so I wanted to try this one.  Glad to hear they'll be ruining Near Dark sometime in the future.

Haha, I've actually enjoyed every platinum dunes remake. It truly does worry me how easily I'm entertained.

What's with this movie having no tits in it, not even any cleavage, that was weak, a slasher film MUST have tits, its a rule that should never be broken!

There are only so many drops of water you are going to get from A SHAM WOW!

This series has been so overdone, Along the way, this movie turned into a re occuring nightmare in it's own right.

Then, just when I thought it was over, FREDDY, VERSES, ALIEN, VERSES, JASON VERSES THAT FAT KID FROM WHATS HAPPENING.

At last, it's done. he is dead. And son of a production if FREDDY the franchise the fricken boil on the corner of my drive in days a$$hole somehow regains his blades only to carve another uninspired (except the first and only) stream of movie shit paste squirting from the producers tube into any willings sucker's mind who once again wishes to pay twice for what wasn't  worth the cost to watch in the first place.

I might simply just be pissy though. I will hold judgement until the awards nominations are out.

Shawn.....><

Jordan, when was there ever tits in a Nightmare movie? I think I saw a pair in The Dream Warriors... but yeah, this series never really had a lot of nudity... or gore for that matter. If they toned down the cursing they could be PG13. haha

I thought this was just about average. I'm not familiar with a lot of the previous films in the series so I didn't know some lines/scenes were reused, but I can't say I hated this as much as some people did. It was probably just about what I expected for a horror remake with Michael Bay as a producer.

My brother thought it was quite boring and lost interest before the halfway mark. He normally likes any movie as long as it has gore or stupid explosions whereas I'm picky about which films I like. He said he'd never watch it again so maybe I'm being too nice about it.
