It is no secret that I love martial arts films (Good and bad) and when I saw Ip Man on Blu Ray from the Uk Amazon I bought it and boy was I surprised.

I'm not going to give anything away or go into detail about this or that because this is the perfect martial arts film.

Better than Boring Tiger, Lame Dragon... I never thought that flick was classic.

Donnie Yen is just fucking awesome at what he does.

The story in most of these flicks is never one to call home about but it has worked from Shaw Brothers to this day and they never changed much except visuals and how they do it.

I agree -- IP Man rocks.

But I disagree -- I think the story is really excellent.  Much stronger than even the good Hollywood films of this year.

To see what makes Donnie Yen so amazing, watch IP Man and Flash Point back to back...and keep in mind that Yen is also the choreographer on Flash Point.

He even makes Dragon Tiger Gate watchable (Mind you I enjoy that film for what it is but also realize that it is really average at best)

Maybe it goes back to the "No story is truly original" because I have seen many martial arts films with this exact storyline.
