Duane "The Rock" Johnson's best movie up-to-date.  And I know that's not saying much, but still...

This was a  great flick, IMO.

Writing, directing, acting, story, all top notch.   Very Tarantino-ish.   If you're looking for a hundred-mile an hour ride, this is it.

Two thumbs up.

Have you seen The Rundown?  I thought this was a great film.  I also liked him in Get Smart.

The Rundown is a modern action movie marvel.
Hands down my favorite Dwayne Johnson film.

I didn't care for Faster at all for two reasons:

1) It tries to be all retro cool, but the lens choices and photography all look modern.
It made for visually inconsistent palette for me, lots of awkwardness there.

2) And here's the biggie, "Faster" is a pale echo of a fantastic neo noir thriller...
    "The Driver" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077474/
Ryan O'Neal plays a getaway driver and the main characters are unnamed.
Big plot difference being O'Neal is not a con looking for vengeance.
If you're going to invoke mini classics like that, you better do it right.

That and my inner car geek was bummed there was almost no fender action.
In a movie called Faster, there ought to be some rockin' car stunts.
Hopefully, they'll show up in Nic Cage's new exploitation fest, "Drive Angry".

On the extras for Faster the director says the script was like a Tarantino film which is funny that you mentioned it.

I think The Rock is always awesome (His role in Be Cool made that film better than it ever would have been otherwise)

I've been watching the guy since he started in Wrestling so I guess I was destined to enjoy his acting style.

The only thing about Faster that was awkward as far as acting goes is... spoiler spoiler when his brother is killed and he goes into that high pitched no. It was the only part of the film I hated. Felt awkward and was kinda funny.
