Surprised not to see a thread for this already.  Finally saw it last night on Blu Ray.

What a huge letdown, this was.  Damn...I thought it looked so god in the trailers.

OK, first the details...$100 Million budget (way too much), $82 Million NABO and $162 Million WWBO...so, at least it recouped, but had to be seen as a disappointment here in the states, even though it was critically appreciated.

Tony Scott directed this, pretty much like he directs all his recent movies.

Denzell Washington acts pretty much like he does in all his recent movies.

And I really like both of these guys, but I'm growing weary of both, as of late.  I did not like the way this movie was shot, nor how it looked.  I did not like Denzell here at all.

I really didn't like anythign about this movie.  The plot (although supposedly based on actual events) came off as completely ludicrous to me.  I didn't like a single character.  Everything was so dull and predictable, it's crazy.  And of course, they tried to throw some extra dressing on top of this 4 day old sandwich with lame backstories of our 2 heroes to be, which just didn't work at all for me.

As things were humming along, I really thought something has to happen here to change the feel and throw this somewhere different, but nope, it kept humming along, but the problem is that whether or not it's based on true events, there was only 1 way it was going to conclude, and of course, that's exactly how it did.

Now, don't get me wrong.  It's not a bad movie.  If you can open your mind to the possibility that you don't know how it's all going to go down, I guess it is exciting, thrilling, and well put together.  Acting is pretty decent all across the board, there's lots of extras and big scenes, and that really big fast train racing along at breakneck speed...somehow...

It didn't work for me at all, and I'm really surprised how weak the story was and that they threw $100 Million at this thing.
