I watched the premiere last night.
Pleased that the genre was embraced by viewers.
The show was the second highest rated debut ever on the network.
I applaud AMC for dedicating a lot of resources to revitalizing the Western.

But I found the episode severely lacking in, charisma.
I wasn't engaged by the characters, at all.
The only one I enjoyed was thoroughly dead by the pilot's conclusion.

I was being told far too much, instead of being shown the world of the show.
And the grossly superfluous voice over at the end put big poop bow on the show.
I like Colm Meaney as an actor a lot, but Ian McShane from "Deadwood", he ain't.

Unfortunately, the comparisons to Deadwood are inevitable.
And this one didn't come close to stacking up for me.

Thoughts?
