This one's pretty much exactly what you'd expect.  The story sucks and is borderline non-existent.  There's a lot of CG.  The characters are so flat they barely exist.

But it looks sooooooooooo good.

Highly worth seeing in theatre -- when you're in that sort of mood -- for the usual Tarsem imagery.  A word of warning that the film is perhaps slightly unusually brutal in its violence, but at the same time, it's so incompetent that it's not particularly effective.

The action is actually pretty awesome, when it happens, which is rarely.  The Gods/Titans fight was supremely entertaining and, like the rest of the film, over-the-top gory, which was good.  The early fight scenes are very short but are staged interestingly and are, again, appropriately violent.

Cavill was great!  Very good on-screen presence and a fine leading man.  Gives me hope for Superman.  Too bad about that f***ing idiot directing it.

Basically, if you're in the mood for some nice violent exotic imagery eye candy, it doesn't get much better.  Otherwise, steer clear.

My recommendation for this movie comes simply from me because I appreciated it.

It succeeded in depicting humans as being pushed and reaching the brink of conscious pain where, at this edge, one would think they would breach the conditions of their moral ethics and leave the guarding of any precious secrets, but no: they stood fast in their convictions to exceedingly painful ends. Likewise, the gods suffered as they watched the story unfold, but knowing the rules: that intervention would remove man's free choice-- that dilemma is at the crux of real life situations and reaches beyond the field of theatre.

I watched this movie the other day. It was just 'ok' for me. I wish I would have waited for it to come to RedBox. The effects were good. They were overdone IMO though(ie the blood squirting out and stuff). The story dragged and was super boring for me.

Like said before, if you like violence and special effects...go. But if you want story, this one could be skipped.

I saw this over the weekend and while I wanted to like it, I couldn't. The only thing I really enjoyed was the fight between the gods and the titans. But really... those weren't titans by any stretch of the imagination. Not only were they depicted incorrectly but they just seemed like boring animals that were easily beaten.

I also didn't care for the free license they took with the mythology.

The ending was like... really? That's how they wanted to do it?

Anyway, visually it was very nice but that is about it.

I saw this last weekend with my soon to be 87 year old Dad.  He had never seen a real 3D movie, and actually, rarely ever sees a movie at the theater.  I thought this would be right up his alley, and I was right - he loved it and was in awe of the FX and overall look of the film.

For me?  Well, as others have already said, it does look damn good - most of the time.  Some of the CG backgrounds didn't work for me, and most of the movie had what I'd call an unrealistic look to it.

The fight scenes?  Impressive at times, and again, on some occasions, something just seemed off.

The violence was indeed graphic and over the top, but looked very, very impressive.  I don't think I've ever seen so many decapitations in a single flick.

Story-wise, rather weak, surprisingly slow, and as expected, cheesy and unrealistic.  No big deal though, as no one is going to this for the story.

I was not impressed with any of the acting, but alot of that probably is due to the cheese being piled on, the goofy, unrealistic dialogue, and the over the top nature of the setup.

We saw this on the first Saturday showing, and including the 2 of us, there were a total of 4 patrons in the theater.  I had a very bad feeling that it was going to be a major flop, but on the contrary, it's kicking ass and taking a few names as well.  It's already recouped its $75 Million production budget, based on WW earnings and should prove to be an unexpected success story.

If you're gonna see it, see it in the theater in 3D.  The 3D is well done and not too in your face.  I enjoyed myself, and that's really all you can hope for these days.

have you all been sucking on zeus teat?!

i'm going to get harassed for saying this, but i loved 300. i'm a huge fan of frank miller and i thought snyder captured the graphic novel flawlessly. regardless, i knew this wasn't going to be anything like 300, but after reading your reviews (and others online), i thought it might be worth checking out for visuals alone.

as others have mentioned, the story sucks ass. super shallow and nonsensical in every way imaginable.

the dialogue...utter s hit. to be honest, the dialogue felt very out of place for me. no one talked like they should back then and as you said jeff, incredibly cheesy over all.

the acting was awful. that scene where cavil was rallying up his army fell flat for me. it just felt stupid really.

the set pieces were by far the worst. not only did they look fake, but they came straight out of The Ten Commandments. Everything looked so new and clean, like it was just made by an art department that was huffing glue and watching old Bible movies.

but alas, the action and the special effects is why i saw the film. the action was okay, and sometimes it was pretty good. but it lasted a whole 30 seconds. furthermore the special effects looked like it came straight out of spiderman 3. everything looked like a goddamn video game. furthermore, none of the violence looked new to me. if you play video games at all, then you've seen all of this before. and as i just mentioned, the titans looked like video game characters anyways. the other day i was playing a game where i sucker punched some woman straight in the vagina. you could literally hear her eggs cracking inside her. so in all fairness, maybe i'm a bit desensitized to it all. but this film was geared towards my age group, so the producers are going to have to do something new and creative if they want my attention.

and why the hades did poseidon fight like he was carrying a f ucking ribbon wand in his back pocket? looked like s hit.

and to throw salt on the wound, they didn't even show athena's tits. f uck this movie.

rant complete. one of my "less intelligent" reviews, but this movie wasn't very smart to begin with.
