Wow. I mean fuck wow. I have not been creeped out by a movie like this since The Ring. Take that as you may.

I liked everything about this movie. I'm wondering if it's just because I had no expectations walking into it. So, I'm hoping someone else will give it a go and set me straight if I'm wrong.

Mary, a young woman just coming out of divorce from an abusive husband, moves into a crappy old apartment. It has a rotary phone in it already. It rings one night and this woman, Rose, asks to speak to Bobby.

After Mary tells her a couple of times that there is no Bobby she speaks with Rose. Rose and Bobby were lovers. He just got back from the war, Viet Nam, a few years ago. This is when we find that Rose is living in 1979. This is not at all an original concept, but IMO, it's never been executed this well.

So Mary humors the situation, listens to Rose's complaints about Bobby, and says she should've just offed him. Next day Rose calls back... "I did what you said" and she buried him in the pantry. Mary walks into her pantry to find a brick wall that wasn't there yesterday.

This is when it finally takes off. Bit of a slow start. Mary wants nothing to do with Rose now, but Rose begins to threaten her. Rose finds the 7 year old Mary  in 1979 and follows her. She starts to show up in the background of Mary's old photo albums. And it gets far creepier.

The best thing I like about this movie is that it all culminates to a pretty intense climax. It doesn't dissapoint. I don't want to spoilt too much out of the gate. Just hope someone else will give this a look and tell me if I'm an idiot or not for giving it such a rave review. I just can't remember the last time a movie gave me actual goose bumps...

I have to say the lead actress in this flick is one of the ugliest women i've ever seen.  Completely unappealing.  I will say the movie, aside from her and some stupid shit here and there, wasn't bad...

1.  I'm sick of movies that have to rely on loud scary sounds for it's scares.  I can automatically tell a cheap scare movie upon the 1st spoken word.  Why?  How? 'cos I hafta turn up the surround sound to hear what's being said...  Then turn it,down for the music and cheap scare sound effects.  This movie is a huge offender.

2.  When the idiot guy, the one she was into, sees her at the super market and knocks her into a wall of corn flakes.   That was so absurd.  He practically lunges at her, scares the shit out of her and the tells her he's sorry for scaring her.  Wtf??? Then maybe you shouldn't approach her in such a lecherous way.

3.  The whole subtle feminist tones.  They were subtle unless you're really paying attention.  Then it's puke worthy.  Made so even worse by the ass ugly lead they had.

Loved the 1st call.  Creepy, good stuff... But as the movie drug on it got pretty stale.  Ending wrapped, as you said, satisfying.

Now, a good lead... Corri English from "broken down cadillac" and star of the absurd, shit ball, piece of shit "house of fears".  She is hot.  "the caller" would've been rockin' if she played in it.

I got to see this movie. All I got to say is...it's alright.

Not worthy to buy it but, it's good if you want to spend some time. Didn't find it creepy or scary. But I think it could've ended a long time ago.

Don't want to spoil much but she could've used the caller has an ally. lol Saved all the mess that transpired.

I enjoyed the premise.
And this is certainly a cut or two above the norm for this level of production.
But I felt the story lost steam as it trudged along.
The downward spiral felt a little too familiar.
That and the lead had some real ugly expressions at times.
So much so it distracted from some of the scenes.
I hope this leads to a better production for those involved.

I liked this very much. It shows one can make a decent thriller/horror without all the gore. I wouldn't pay a matinee to see it, but good enough to watch with netflix streaming.

Watched this one over the weekend and I liked it on the whole. I wasn’t expecting a lot but I found it enjoyable and although not an original premise, like what they did with it.

Some of the phone scenes with Rose were creepy and I especially liked the protag being in mortal danger during one phone call but having absolutely no power to stop it.
