I'm not much of a movie reviewer but thought this just a very well-told story.  Michael Fassbender nailed his character as a sex addict whose life comes unraveled.

I really enjoyed this one. Fassbender is a complete badass. My only gripe was the pacing. There were a few scenes here and there that progessed a bit too slowly for my liking. But this is a minor grievance.

Overall, awesome film with some really powerful visuals. Stuck with me for a long time after my initial viewing.

On a much more shallow note, I'm getting a lot of s hit from my friends for calling Carey Mulligan's body "doughy." but seriously, ryan gosling killed Marlin for that flabby piece of ass?! no way.

Actually couldn't agree more with Albino... Especially about Mulligan... Great movie though, my second favourite of 2011.

This was a lot better experience for me than McQueen's last film.
The prison one had way too much poo in it for me.

Totally engrossed by the performances and production.
The relationship dynamics were never dull.

Fassbender's ritualistic habits were neat to watch.
He's a very "Everything in its Right Place" kind of guy... except for sex.
Watching that conflict unfold within him was a treat.
I'm sure McQueen will be making movies for a while.

Finally caught this one last night and what an excellent movie with superb performances from the two leads, but I’ve come to expect nothing less from Fassbender.

Just a really good movie with some memorable scenes, and a great version of “New York, New York” by Carey Mulligan.

Certainly worth the watch.

Obviously strong filmmaking, but the third act fell apart, for me.  Didn't buy Mulligan going quite so far, and it felt a little forced.

The obvious improv worked most of the time for me, but not all...Fassbender carried it better during the date sequence, although he had the easier half of it.

Some of the imagery during the sex sequences, especially the last one, was pretty astounding.  Probably the film's strongest feature, for me.  

I thought Mulligan's "New York, New York" was stupid.  Not her fault; stupid idea.  I don't think anyone agreed with me, though.

Oh, and props to Albino for the suggestion that women with more weight have less worth.  Class.

I was really impressed with this film. Big props to Fassbender for being willing to strip away anything glamorous and take a chance on playing a really textured, flawed character. And because of the penis thing, too.

McQueen and Fassbender are already shooting another movie together (with Brad Pitt and Paul Giamatti thrown in for good measure), can't wait to see what they do together next.

speaking of large d icks, GQ recently covered Fassbender a few months back. they talked in great length (no pun intended) about his nude scenes in Shame as well as the public's response. in addition, they discussed his somewhat rocky journey to stardom. apparently he and mcqueen didn't quite hit it off when they first met. mcqueen thought he was pompous and fassbender didn't trust mcqueen with Hunger's heavy handed subject matter.

and yes Heretic, that's exactly what i said.
