Sorry if this has been posted, I looked back a few pages and didn't find anything on it.

Anyone see this yet? It has Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Hope Davis and Max Theriot in it.

I personally that it was amazing. Great direction, great writing and tremendous performances. Glad to see Skarsgard doing more roles where he can grow as a fine actor and Bateman is amazing as always.

Never heard of this one. Took a look at the trailer. Parts of it seem kinda hokey but I think the overall idea is interesting and timely. It's pretty much inevitable that a film like this would come about sooner or later.

Stuck it in my Netflix queue. Will check it out soon.

I found this somewhere between okay and pretty good. It kept me interested throughout and the performances were more or less solid. Jason Bateman did an especially good job. On the other hand, it often felt generic and melodramatic, both in terms of the characters and the treatment of the many heavy themes prevalent throughout the story. I mean, for a script that deals so heavily in grief, exploitation, and death, not to mention child abuse, bullying, and suicide, I would've expected a more nuanced approach.

Perhaps the thing that struck me the most was that this is not the film about how technology makes us disconnected that I assumed the title was getting at; it's a film about how technology gets used to do fucked up shit. The characters just happen to be disconnected and not necessarily as a result of their phones, computers, or what have you.

Not that the film doesn't touch on those things but frankly, it wasn't enough. We've all been in that situation where everyone's sitting around on their phones or whatever and no one's talking. Maybe some of us think WTF? The film has a couple of those scenes but I think more is required to make a significant statement or observation on the subject.

Still, not bad.

I think they covered that pretty well. Skarsgard's wife becomes obsessed with that chat room, the kid's and the father are on their phone or always on their computers. But yeah maybe not enough, but I think that would have been pretty boring.

And I agree that its not very subtle and it's pretty blunt with those themes. Like has been said by many, its the Crash of the internet.

I think what made me like it so much, was that I had know expectations. Didn't even know of the movie and then my girlfriend was looking for movies for us to watch and was like hey, some actors you like and a 7.5 on IMDB...so we gave it a shot and were surprised.
