Anyone see this?

Movie flopped, but at least it was something new. Well it's not really new, since there are a few POV movies from the 40s and beyond, but... still.

Even though the gimmick gets a bit tiresome and the movie feels like it drags, you can't help but admire the effort that went into it. I have to say I was in awe that they managed to pull this off. It was filmed in 112 days on a 2 million dollar budget. They really put a ton of effort in this thing. It really shows, too bad it didn't make more money, so the filmmakers could get more opportunities in the future to do more stuff.

Quoted from CJ Walley
I need to see this. A friend on Facebook was raving about it and saying it's the only movie he's seen recently with the same energy as Fury Road.

It's a non stop ride. You just really cannot sustain that amount of energy for a full motion picture. Too much action gets boring fast. Which is why most HUGE movies just don't work for me these days. They are one action scene after the next with story as mostly filler to connect the action sequences together. When in my opinion it should be the other way around.

I think the comparison with Fury Road is adequate. Both movies don't really have much of a story, they are both just full-blown, all-out action movies.

Still, I admire both movies just due to the amount of effort that went into making them. In that aspect I find both movies inspiring.

Especially when you consider that this is a Russian movie that was shot with GoPro cameras on a 2 million dollar budget with all real stunts done with wires. And no one got hurt. It's just a great achievement.

Well, from my understanding the filmmakers got paid. Because they made this movie for 2 mil, but sold it for 10 mil to STX Entertainment to have distribution rights for the movie worldwide. STX put in some small amount to fix some effects and add 2-3 things. But, the movie only made 5 mil opening weekend and 14 mil WW.

It was pulled from theaters really fast, because I would assume they were losing money keeping it there. When you factor in that companies split money with theaters, I don't see a way how this movie was a success for STX.

Which is a shame, because this is guerilla style filmmaking when you think about it.
