Was excited for this...

Good actors, one of my favorite screenwriters/directors, my type of humor...

and...

it sucked!

I spent half the movie in awe at how much of a fat bastard Russell Crowe became.

Skip this pile.

He gained weight for the role, lost it right after. You wreck your body either way. Gaining and losing that much weight in a short period of time. Don't see how it would have made much of a difference if he wasn't fat for the role.

Anyway, movie's titled The NICE Guys. Horrible title.

I didn't like it either. But I'm not one for these caper-detective type movies. Plus he already made this movie before, don't understand why he would make such a similar movie again.

Some juvenile humor here and there that didn't work for me. I would have expected the movie to be written better. Though, I'm sure this movie will appeal to a lot of people, I'm not one of them.

I didn't hate it nor did I love it. Coming from the same guy who brought us Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, it was a bit of a disappointment (then again Shane Black also directed Iron Man 3 so I shouldn't be that upset).

The script could have used one more rewrite. Not all of the pieces fit together coherently. For example, I got the feeling that they changed "saving the birds" to bees mid shoot.

Also the script has a big problem with women. Both the chick in peril and Gosling's daughter are insufferable.

Besides that, the movie is forgettable. I'd recommend checking it out on blu-ray, but go in with mild expectations. Oh and they ruined some of the best parts in the trailer.

C+ for me

Saw this...or...tried to watch it last weekend on HBO.

Absolutely garbage!  Absolutely hated it!  Literally couldn't stay awake, numerous times, and the fact that my girlfriend was out long before me, made it clear - this thing sucked ass.

I knew from the opening scene this was going to be as dumb as Shane Black is.  As I watched, wide eyed, wondering WTF was gong on, I said out loud, "Well, that's obviously some kind of dream scene".  Nope...it wasn't.  It was just pure stupidity and over the top nonsense, like the vast majority of this waste of time was.

Pure shit that no talent should have wasted their time on.

I quite enjoyed it, snappy dialogue, OTT characters and decent performances from the leads...

Not vintage Black, but worth a look imho.
