Ten years in the making since Iron Man hit screens way back in 2008, it's finally here...the beginning of the end.

No less than 18 films have been made, all building up to this one...and I'd recommend seeing every one, and all the after credit sequences, to make the most of this beast.

It's a sequel to all the Iron Men, Spiderman Homecoming, the Thor trilogy, Black Panther, Captain America films, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers and, of course, Ant Man!

That's without mentioning all the series that are part of the same Universe.

It has been the most ambitious undertaking in Cinema history...and they've pulled it off with barely a hiccup along the way.

There is so much going on that everyone has done a masterful job in managing to fit it all together.

Amazing stuff. It's incredible to think my cinema life started with the likes of Superman, when getting a man to fly in something like a realistic way was considered unbelievable special effects...and now we're able to witness things like this.

Already can't wait for the Second Part....and for Captain Marvel.

The only downside is imagining what can possibly come after all this?

To avoid spoilers, you'll basically need to live under a rock until you see the movie.

The hard part, of course, is dragging the rock with you to the theater.

Feature-length scripts:
Who Wants to Be a Princess? (Family)
Glass House (Horror anthology)

TV pilots:
"Kord" (Fantasy)
"Mal Suerte" (Superhero)

I was a devout Marvel comic reader as a kid in the 80s. It feels really strange that virtually all of them are in live action. I wonder how long this MCU thing can last. Infinity War feels like somebody force-feeding me Gooseberry crumble until I choke (I love Gooseberry Crumble).
The thing I miss is that you can't get separate, smaller stories anymore. They all have to be part of a bigger franchise. This can't last forever.

I can't see they can do much but start again, focusing on the new breed.

They can't go back to just doing small stuff after something this epic. I can see no option but to start another piecemeal epic.. Individual, complete stories but part of a bigger whole.

I'm glad I saw this on opening day, would be hard to escape the spoilers and there are so many massive ones to go round.

It was epic and amazing. I don't have one bit if criticism for it. Wildly entertaining. It's Marvel, you generally get what you pay for, but this is next level.

Watch it on the biggest screen with the best possible sound.

I really hope they do Venom justice.

Yeah, it's an immense experience.

Get the previous films watched asap, and watch this on Imax. Don't leave it to TV.

I was a DC kid and I suppose I'm a DC adult as I have no interest in any of the Marvel characters... aside from The Hulk. Only as a solo though.

Infinity War is enjoyable. But is it good? Eh....

Look, a movie like this shouldn't work. By all means, it should have been a shit show. And it's kind of miraculous that it's not. The character interactions are easily the best parts of the film, Thanos is solid, and Dr. Strange feels fresh and new. I had a good time while watching it and am interested in Part II. With that said...

The film's story is a series of B-stories. And the movie heavily relies on the fact, and assumes, that the film's audience both know and love the MCU. If you're tired of superhero films, then this movie is NOT for you. Furthermore, the humor is safe, boring and doesn't work most of the time (they're starting to drive Guardians into the ground). Plus there are no stakes. And honestly, that's my biggest problem with the film. Because -

***MILD SPOILER***
If you have a character who can literally turn back time then nothing feels like it's permanent. Going into the film, we know that certain characters will survive because we know there is a Black Panther 2 film in the works.

Anyways, it's fun, but the whole franchise feels a little cold to me. I lost any investment I had in these characters a long time ago. So IMO, it's like watching someone else playing a video game like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. Different characters, different settings, but no real depth.

B- for me

I'm going to send this review to Anthony Russo - I sometimes get his emails by mistake...

I'm over them as well.

First, maybe second Ironman I enjoyed, but that's it.

I'm so glad other movies are still being made for other demographics.

Ma's just going to have to go see the superhero movies with hubby.

Yup!

They seem to me more akin to amusement park rides than movies.

I understand the lack of interest. I'm quite a fan of them, and I'm near to burnout with them..but they keep managing to raise the bar.

The big problem I have is that outside of the Marvel films and the Star Wars films...what is there to get excited about?

A lot of dark, depressing nihilistic releases, dozens of literary adaptations that will all be less than the source material, a ridiculous looking remake of Jaws called "The Meg"...and yet another remake/sequel of Halloween.

They may well be like an amusement ride...but that's better than the alternative shopping trolley down a dirty alley.

Just saw it yesterday as well and second your 'Wow'.

Either you love the MCU or you don't, so it's not for everyone. For geeks like me, this was golden.

-SPOILERS-

- For the MCU to finally tie-in Red Skull
- For Peter Dinklage to play a giant
- For Hulk to have his ass handed to him and then to be afraid to materialize when needed
- For maintaining the character integrity of the Guardians of the Galaxy when interacting with the Avangers
- For the oh-so-slight reference to introduce Capt. Marvel

Like I said, I'm a geek and I applaud Marvel for tying 10 years of story-lines into one entertaining movie.

Hey, can one of you PM me and tell me who dies? I don't really care from a fan standpoint, it has more to do with the business in general and something I'm trying to accomplish. Thanks, AJR

Somebody dies!??? Great. That will teach me to read threads before I see the movie. But reading Marvel comics is like reading the Bible. A lot of resurrections.

Seen it, loved it, now I'm going talk SPOILERS SO DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NO SEEN THE MOVIE!

.......

The writers have said get used to all the dead heroes as they are not coming back. I say that's bull or misleading as several 'dead' characters have movies coming up in the official Marvel movie release schedule. I do have a theory that may cover this though. What if Thanos used the reality gem to create a completely new universe in which half the population doesn't exist? This could be Marvel's way of creating an Ultimate's style alternate universe and give them more freedom with certain characters in the different universes.

A bit of a cop-out perhaps but possible....perhaps?

Just saw this on Netflix (because that’s about how invested I am in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), and liked how the egos clashed, with just the normal level of “I don’t know you but let’s go half-way across the Universe together to face a badguy I mentioned” you’d expect from a superhero film. That crossover element could have been handled much worse.

But...

SPOILERS

The stakes have been raised to ridiculous levels, which paints them into a corner in more ways than one.

As mentioned, the MCU can hardly return to personal scale conflicts (original Iron Man or Ant Man kind of stuff) and feel important.

Also as mentioned, no one believes all or even most of the dead characters will stay dead.

Mark and Albinopenguin offered a couple ways out of this, either of which would feel incredibly cheap. Someone could also convince Thanos to undo what he did (which would be similar to how DC fixed the world-ending problems in Flashpoint Paradox), or they could go completely off the rails and Bruce Banner wakes up from a bad dream. But there is no plausible path forward for MCU that doesn’t involve some stupid trick.

The ancient artifacts were gathered in the space of a week. So either there’s nothing to prevent this catastrophe from occurring every so often, in which case the existence of a sane Universe proves the chain of events always works itself out over and over... or the artifacts get destroyed in the next movie and their existence was just some cosmic coincidence that, despite Wong’s description, has nothing to do with the nature of the Universe. To be fair, this kind of plot hole is par for the course in epic movies of all kinds, but it’s a pet peeve of mine.

I can understand some of the boneheaded decisions made in this film... Starlord in particular putting stay-true-to-character above common sense... but Dr. Strange seemed to do precisely the wrong thing at every turn. If his Time Stone let him make a bunch of counterintuitive decisions based on foreknowledge, the ending will seem even cheaper.
