Wow, wow, wow!

This will be the best thing you see this year!

So someone at work told me about this show that only came out yesterday, it wasn't on my radar at all.

It's a fresh spin on the superhero genre. A dark (extremely dark at times) comedy set in a world where superheroes are very much integrated into society.

I'm not going to say too much about it other than it's got all the good things, lots of action, blood, the language is off the charts, good looking men and women in superhero costumes, and most of all, a hell of a a lot of money must have been thrown at this, everything looks amazing. It also has a fantastic cast all round.

Check this out, even if you're over superheroes, I think you'll love this. I'm hooked and can't stop watching.

And I just finished the first season in a little under a day.

I love this show. Bring on season 2.

Wow! Interesting how peple can differ. I was curious after Warren gushing about it and started watching. I lasted less than five minutes. I thought it was ridiculous and funny, but not in a good way. But, then I've always hated any kind of superhero.

I had a chance to see the first four, not sure I'm going back to it.

But that said, it seems like it's a superhero story written for people who don't like superheroes.

Feature-length scripts:
Who Wants to Be a Princess? (Family)
Glass House (Horror anthology)

TV pilots:
"Kord" (Fantasy)
"Mal Suerte" (Superhero)

It would be hard to form an opinion on anything in less than 5 minutes, there’s been little to no character or plot development. You don’t even know what you’re giving up on at that point.

But fair enough, not everything is going to please everyone

I do think it's your loss though.

I finished this yesterday and have mixed feelings about it. I felt the first half was stronger than the second. I was all hyped up to see how this band of mortals was going to takeout these superheroes. Homelander especially.

I was left a bit disappointed and a bit underwhelmed with their season finale twist. The tone of the show was uneven. At times it was very dark and graphic which I like, then it would venture into slap stick territory. I felt the conspiracy The Boys uncovered came to them too easily. You would think government intelligence would’ve solved this long ago.

And maybe it’s explained in the source material, but we never find out why compound V gives certain people different powers and then Homelander seems to have them all.

He is a great villain, though. But there’s not much backstory to why he’s so evil. All we know is he hates his little blue blanky.

I would still recommend this. I dug the chemistry between Hughie and Starlite. Was  disappointed  at how under used Simon Peg was in this, but Elizabeth Shue did some of her best acting since Leaving Las Vegas.

Anyway, I’ll still be there for season two but this will be on a shorter leash for me.

James.

Finally, I finished the first season.

To be honest, I am a little disappointed - I feel like the first episode lead me down the garden path, the rest of the season didn't quite live up to what it promised.

As pointed out by Jwent, the tone shift was... odd. Mainly involving the storyline around "The Deep" which was way too slapstick and didn't feel a good fit for the rest of the dark comedy. His storyline seems to have gone off on a tangent from the rest of them as well.

There were a few swings and misses in there and I can't help think this was a missed opportunity for something far greater.

The season finale was utterly disappointing.

Still, it was entertaining and I will be going back for the second season - I just don't think it is as ground breaking as a few critics will lead you to believe.

Looks absolutely terrible!  I didn't even make it through the trailer.  JUst shocking to me how/why anyone over 12 years old would want to subject themselves to such utter garbage.

I'm watching The Walking Dead on Netflix, as somehow, I never saw it.  Very impressed with season 1.

The trailer didn't impress me either. Shame, cuz I love Karl Urban.

As for The Walking Dead, I actually really like the first 2 seasons, after that it really goes downhill...
