sports theme, that takes place over time, but really will for a majority take place over the course of one season.

but ya know, I may open with him as a kid learning the ropes for a few pages, or show a montage of him storming through games in High School, and I'd like to read something similar.

it's basketball, so I know there's slim pickens there, but I'm sure one of you guys knows of a good goal oriented sports script I can seek out.

I'd list my "work" here, but I don't know how to hyperlink.

"Career" Highlights
-2, count em, 2 credits on my IMDB page.
-One time a fairly prominent producer e-mailed me back.
-I have made more than $1000 with my writing!
-I've won 2 mugs... and a thong.  (polaroids of me in thong available for $10 through PM)

@vc_wg - because I crave attention

One of my fave sports movies is 'Any Given Sunday'. I barely understand the rules of NFL, but it's an awesome movie. I think it follows the team through a season.

What good are choices if they're all bad?

Interesting choice. John Logan spec script. Thing is, the movie got completely "Oliver Stoned".

It kind of depends on what you're going for, but most sports movies happen in one season.

Any Given Sunday, as Basket Case said.
Major League.
Little Big League.
Days of Thunder (techincally).
Remember the Titans.

That gives you a couple types of sports and genres to work with.

Focusing on basketball, I'd check out the scripts for Hoosiers, Blue Chips and maybe even this old flick from the seventies called One on One.

Hoosiers is tops!

The Winning Season has a lighter touch with untalented kids learning:

And then there's the king of personal philosophy sports movie IMO:
Friday Night Lights, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390022/

Hoosiers is tops if you're looking for drama oriented.

Teen Wolf is also basketball related.

Lastly, there is a Kevin Bacon movie called "The Air Up There" which I think came out the same time as Blue Chips.

Hope that helps.
