I don't know how many people here read Ken Levine's blog. He occasionally posts some great material on writing for TV and film while mixing other posts about anything else.
Thursday he posted about writing action lines or stage direction:
What's interesting about seeing this, for me, is it tells me that industry writers find the format cumbersome. They have to use another format to better visualize the story. For me, a n00b, it's kinda earth-shattering (not to mention liberating).
"I remember a time of chaos. Ruined dreams. This wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior. The man we called 'Max'."
Interesting you dug this post from March up with it referencing James Gandolfini...the story of his involvement in a table read comes up again in the blog when Ken Levine posts an "in memory of" piece to him.
I also found the outlines interesting. Also being new to writing scripts, it sort of encouraged me to just get copy, ideas and dialogue to the page...convert it later. Also, it keeps me from getting stuck when I'm at a loss of how to format something.
