Hello!

First of all, i´m not looking to buy a script. I´m looking for a colaborator. A writer who would like to see his script produced.

Now, i´m an amateur, and this will be my short film. I need, either a complete idea for a short film or a finished script for me to produce.

Ideally, it has to be a silent short film with preferentially only one character. It would also be better if the short wasn´t much longer than 5 minutes. I want something short and sweet.

I´m looking for something different and creative. It can be in any genre, but i have a slight preference for horror.

Once again, there won´t be any money in return. But i will, of course, credit the writer for the work.

Hi Splinter,

I'm a little confused with your initial post.

First you said you're not interested in buying a screenplay but you are interested in collaborating. That's cool, but later on it your post you said you wanted a short script for you to produce.

Would be great if you could clear this up...

Are you looking for a writer to write for you, or are you looking for a completed script?

Cheers,

Dan

Hi

It can be an already finished screenplay or someone who´s willing to work with me and write a short for me to produce. I see so many people wrting scripts that end up never being produced, that i figured there´s probably someone who would like to team up and make something happen.

I´m not looking to make any kind of money out of the short film, so i´m not willing to pay for a script. In the end, i will have my name in the credits, and the screenwriter will also have his name in the credits. We get the same thing. I think it can be a good experience for me and the screenwriter.

Thanks for clearing that up. Quite a lot of screenwriters get their short scripts produced over here. I'm willing to write a screenplay according to any story that you may have. I'll  send a PM shortly.

This is the part of the thread where you convince us that you can properly produce our scripts.  So far, you're coming up short.

Splinter..I'm so sorry to hijack your thread..but I am thinking why people prefer to write with someone else.  I know that two heads are better than one, but also two heads means two splitted checks.
Problems with a cowriter =
1.  he changes his mind and stops working in the middle of the project
2.  he only puts in 30 pages and wants 120 pages cash
3.  he jumps onto another project to work with someone else not you because he doesn't like the partnership.
4.  he does things without letting you know

I wish you good luck though.

I´m sorry to say this, but i don´t have to convince you of anything because it´s very well explained in my original post that i´m an amateur and this will be my first film. That behing said, you already know beforehand that i´m unexperienced, so i can´t offer guarantees of anything. Knowing that, you either accept the risk or you don´t. You don´t seem very interested in taking these kind of risks, so this thread is probably not for you. Gladly, i´ve already received several messages of people who would actually be happy to work with me instead of keeping their precious scripts in the vault, waiting for some great and lucrative opportunity that 99.9999% of the time will never arrive.

I agree. But this is a very small project, with no money involved, so i don´t really think those risks have any weight in this situation. I´m not actually looking to cowrite a script. I wanna choose a script that i like and produce it. Ideally it would be a 5-10 page script. I thought this was common practise

Wow!  Did you take that the wrong way...

Being that this would be your first film does not mean that you don't have a film background.  You could've worked on sets in some role or you could be in a film school.  The very least you could've said was what type of equipment you have.

I've had my scripts shot by beginners that look great.  And I've had my scripts shot by supposed pros that were so awful, I threw out the copies sent to me.  In either case, I learned a little bit about those producing the shorts before agreeing to anything.

And your snide remark about keep my scripts in a vault is immature, plain and simple.  No one here even knows your name.  And for anyone to send their scripts to you based on so little information shows how little they know about getting their work properly produced.

Those who are willing to work on my project will have all the information they need about me. If people think they´re losing something by sending their script to someone with no experience, then just don´t send it at all. Wait for someone better, who´s gonna "properly" produce their work. I don´t know if i can "properly" produce something because i haven´t done it yet. It will be a test for me, and i´m looking for someone who´s interesting in participating in this test.
