I really cannot believe that Feast won Project Greenlight.
I know that Miramax were looking for something more commercial after the terrible box office performance of the previous two winners but Feast is just a childish ultra-low-budget horror movie.
It has no original elements, the jokes fall flat, the characters are 1-dimensional and the ending is weaker than weak. The minimal explanation for the how the beasts came about, seemed like an afterthought and an awful one at that.
It’s a poor quality rip-off of From Dusk ‘Till Dawn, just swapping “beasts” for “vampires”, with a bit of every other horror movie thrown in for bad measure.
Troma wouldn’t greenlight this movie.
Having worked on a number of low-budget films, I enjoy the TV series but I can’t see there being a fourth. This turkey’s going straight to video.
The only possible positive would be if J-Lo played the Heroine and Affleck played Bozo, then we’d never have to see the pair of them on screen again.
Harvey Wienstein should be ashamed of himself.

Wont they edit the screenplay before actually filming or during filming? |

I can't believe I'm hearing this! I'd just come onto the site to write a fantastic review for Feast and see someone who's gone into the movie in a completley shut mind and given this daft review.
Apart from the child being killed I think this was one of the best scripts on the site. All the characters were funny and you routed for them. Especially Heroine and the Roadie, they just kicked ass.
I beg people to think before they review! |

One of the best scripts on the site, are you mad?
Did you read On The Waterfront? It's an all-time classic.
Did you read Man on Fire? It's not the greatest script or the greatest film but it is a great lesson in structure, style and how to create excitement and tension from a great writer. It also took over $77 million at the box office.
And these are just a couple of the recent scripts posted.
I didn't read Feast with a completely shut mind. I was really hoping that Project Greenlight would be a success, as this is one of the few high profile opportunities for new writers to see their work get to the big screen. What disappointed me is that Miramax picked a script that covers such well trodden ground, without any new or fresh aspects.
When you say "they just kicked a**, did you in fact mean "sucked a**"

http://www.weeklyscript.com/Feast%20-%20Early%20Draft.txtThe link. Edisinho, I'm too mature to argue with you over something as simple as a movie script but the simple fact is I just enjoyed the script for what it was, a simple b-movie. Man On Fire and On the waterfront are completley different things. They are classics, well to a certain extent whereas Feast is just a bit of fun. Good fun as well, but I think they should edit the character CODY out of it completly. |

I agree that it can't be compared to those other scripts and it is just a bit of fun but do you not think the project greenlight winner should be slightly more than a poor quality B-movie? |

Feast is like 'From Dusk till dawn' you say? Maybe just a little.. But what it really is, is 'Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight', anyone else ever seen that?
Evil monsters try to kill a wide assortment of characters as they try and barricade themselves in a bar? There is also something about a tunnel in Feast thats in the basement. As there was in Demon Knight, I forgot what the purpose of it was though. Pretty sure someone also got their head ripped off or something when they were having sex. There were two more, but they slipped my mind.
....Shame on you Ben and Matt.. shaaaaame.. |

- Unoriginal concept - Creatures showed promise but had no real reason to be in the script - Creature kills were dumb - The very original concept of Life Expectancy was dumbed down with stupid-ass "cool quotes" - Even if you look at it as a b-movie, it really lacks in everything - Nothing happened in the whole darn script - Weak, weak, weeeeeaaaak ending - Totally uneeded ending (A government conspiracy? This late in the game?) - OMG! Flying creatures during an eclipse = Pitch Black
But you know what? I will watch PG just to see what the freck they do. |

The Death-o-Meter idea sounded SO. GOOD.
... and then we get some five-year-olds idea of what are jokes. |

Checked it out and it looks like good old campy fun. It is not high art, but it is fine. It will be interesting to see how PGL handles it.
