It is so amazing how revision can take something mediocre at best and turn it into something great. I'm talking about Kevin Williamson's Scream 2. I read the first draft of the script and it was terrible. There was little of the snappy dialogue that I love so much, there was a cliche ending that was changed.

At the beginning the scene between Maureen and Phil is stupid. They don't joke around, Maureen's a total bitch. In the final shooting draft it's so much better, the dialogue between them flows alot more naturally, and I care when they die.

The end when the killers are revealed there are 4 killers. Derek and Sid's roommate Hallie are the killers, backed by Mrs. Loomis *Debbie Salt* In the film it's mickey and Debbie Salt. In the first draft Debbie kills Derek and Hallie, Cotton kills Debbie, and tries to kill sid, so he could be 'the star' and the she kills cotton. that was stupid and a lil bit confusing having 4 killers. The final draft is so much better. It amazes me how a little revision can turn...that into the wonderful Kevin Williamson script we know. Wow.

If this is the "unfinished" draft where Sidney dies, there was a rumor this was released to the public on purpose to throw them off the scent of what was really going to happen in the film. I remember reading a draft of it where Derek was one of the killers and that was the same draft where Sidney died and the final pages were just treatment.

Yeah, Scream 2 was good because of the snappy dialouge and the funny situtations.

Another script you should read is the V for Vedetta script on here.  I'm going to review it but its amazing how rewrites can change the entire movie.  The original draft seemed like a porno.  In the second and third acts, nearly every other scene was a sex scene.  And V's awesome dialogue and monolouges were non-existant.
