While I think Jeff 'cheated' for using this technique to guess who wrote what, I would rather leave my information on my files should anyone try anything funny with my scripts. They may not realize this little nuggest of info.

Phil
Phil, I understand what you're saying, but you know what I honestly think and feel?
I feel that I have an endless well of ideas that can never run dry and the only thing I lack is the skill to implement/execute them properly.
With this as a pre-requisite, (so to speak) I think that many young (young isn't accurate -- I mean not so experienced) writers are fearful that their idea, (as if it's one in a million) will be stolen from them.
I can't worry about that kind of thing. To me it's "Meh. If you need it that badly, and want to so call steal it, then you must need it more than I do."
Now that's not to say people shouldn't be careful and do what they can to protect their work. I understand that. I'm just speaking from my perspective in that I feel that I purely lack the professional skill, and if I were to acquire that:
I would probably be executing so many scripts and so fast that I would need to hold Garage Sales to give them away at a discount.
My point is:
If one becomes so very protective of their work, then I think it can become quite a paranoid thing-- possibly a good idea for an OWC perhaps.
This I understand. It's completely natural, but people need to let go of that kind of thing eventually. You are a perfect example, Phil. I don't think you need to worry. You can always say, "There's plenty more where that came from".
Personally, to me: It's the author and not the script/story. With that in mind, my advice is:
Concentrate on being the best you can be and don't invest loads of money copyrighting and all that protective stuff. It has its place, but don't worry too much. Live your passion or else you might become a covetous miser afraid to part with a measly penny of a word for fear of some nameless unknown which is fear itself.
Don had something up earlier about choosing one script from this next challenge to be produced in audio form on Iscript.com. It was tentative and looks like it's been changed, but it seems like a cool idea.
iScript.com has sponsored the last three or so October One Week Challenges. I'm still waiting on confirmation from them that they will sponsor this one.

Ok, I remember. The link didn't turn up with anything, but you jogged my memory. Thank you, Kevin. Now I remember, the last time I remember Iscript was perhaps two or three years ago, and they will record it with the characters in life mode, so to speak.
My problem with it, (sorry Iscript) but I think the readers suck. It's not just you guys. Buy any audio tape from the library and most of them suck.
I'm not one for "speed talking" text. We don't speak like that for the most part and I hate hearing "voice" done as some kind of monotone spiel.
Anyways, yes.. Iscript. Loads of potential as a medium for any script to get "out there" when one is mobile and doesn't have the time to be in a stationary chair.
Phil, why don't you quit while you're only as far behind as you are already. Just some friendly advice.
I didn't reveal anything about anyone until others started their guessing, after most of the people who were going to read any scripts, had already done so. And I posed my reveals as guesses, anyway, just like everyone else did. As a few others, I went out of my way to disguise my submission, including using a different looking PDF than you may be used to seeing out of me. You want to be anonymous, take the time to make sure...I doubt that would have been a problem for you, right, or did you write this right at the deadline? Exactly...
I don't alter my feedback based on who wrote the script.
I haven't listened to any yet, Sandra. It's expensive, but if one can afford it, it could be like getting a table read. Not sure if there's value outside of that, but that's important if you can't set one up. And maybe there is value outside that too, what do I know. If they can get the directory set up, that would really be nice.
I don't alter my critiques of a script based on the author; please don't imply that I do. I read two of your scripts and I gave honest opinions of them. Get over it.
You should spend less time on 'disguising' your scripts and more time on improving them.
