Here’s a synopsis for my sci-fi script Try, the first half is inspired by 28 Days Later and George A. Romero’s zombie films, and the second half is inspired by the movie Annihilation:

All species of non-human animals are on-course to becoming extinct and a group of activists, led by teenager K.C. PIPER, are enraged by this. K.C. alters the activist society into a doomsday cult and recruits brilliant and controversial scientist, ZANDAR SORVO, to join them.

Real animals are replaced with bio-engineered animals secretly invented by Zandar. The bio-animals are capable of reproducing at a greatly accelerated rate and made with a secret agenda in mind.

One member of the doomsday cult, MIA, volunteers to sacrifice her and her baby for their cause. She has second thoughts and runs away. Mia is found by the cultists and forced to ingest a chemical created by Zandar, then she’s placed in a tomb with her unborn baby. In time, her baby feasts on her insides.

After nearly two months inside the crypt, the cultists remove the dead woman and her dead baby from inside. They peel away her flesh and resting inside her rib cage is her baby, the size of a young child and somehow mobile.

The zombie baby is released in a mall and quickly attacks everyone in proximity. Police try to kill the zombies exiting the mall, although they are fast and it takes multiple bullets to their brains to immobilize them. The police are quickly overrun. Many people are infected with and spread the zombie virus.

A decade later, zombies outnumber the living, that are now mostly slow-moving due to their decomposing bodies. A group of humans formed an island society that is attacked by two pirate freighter ships, one a supply ship and the other a slave ship.

The pirate given the most demerits by the captain is chosen to be bitten by a severed zombie head and thrown below deck where the slaves are. The zombified slaves are unleashed on the island to dwindle their population. The pirates leave the island until the zombies decompose and it is easier to plunder.

There’s a rise in numbers of a strange species of bird that glows very brightly in different colours. The bio-birds reproduce at an alarming rate and eventually begin killing all zombies. The sky becomes completely filled with an endless flock of bio-birds. The sun and moon are blotted out from the birds, while they provide multi-colour lights to brighten Earth instead. The human population gradually increases.

Half a century later, humans have assembled new civilizations and bio-engineered animals everywhere shift their forms slightly to become more deadly and begin murdering people. A team of explorers seek out the head scientist who invented the equation for all bio-animals, SYB GIOVANI. They have a hunch where the scientist resides and along their travels they defend themselves from attacking bio-animals.

The explorers locate Syb and learn he is actually a bio-person being controlled by K.C. Piper, the doomsday cult leader. The scientist once in her employ, Zandar, was the true inventor of the bio-being equation. The cultists cause their bio-engineered bird creations to disperse and murder all of humanity.
