Hello simply scripts community,

I recently created a youtube channel featuring several 'scene vs script' from some of my fav films

There's something about Mary
The Ring
The Fog
Up in the Air
As Good as it Gets
The Terminator
Pulp Fiction
No Country for Old Men

Link to channel -- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGe76dx248TPoLqdr2qH5NA

Appreciate I'm not the first channel to do this, and sadly the Pulp fiction and No Country scenes were already out there but the others are not. Also, I've tried to go for more complex scenes from films instead of the more dialogue-related ones that are mostly out there.

So if interested, please take a look and let me know if they provide any helpful insight or what I could do to improve them.

I'm keen to do some more and happy for requests - providing the films screenplay is anything like what they actually filmed

Many thanks, Colin

Ahoy Colin,

We'll check it out, but you'd be surprised how many times Hollywood ends up filming it the way you(the writer) have it wrote. -A

Hey Colin,

I love this kind of thing. Good work!

Feedback? Hmm... I prefer the side-by side format, but appreciate that might not always be possible or even what other people prefer. Could be worth seeing what the consensus is on that I guess.

I hope you keep it up cos I'll keep watching!

Cheers,
Max

I watched them all except The Ring and Up in the Air. (I've never seen those movies.) It's remarkable how close the films match the script. Plus, how the pacing varies. I couldn't keep up with The Fog, whereas As Good As It Gets played out longer than the script.

Hi Chris,

Cheers buddy for taking a look.

When you get a chance you should check out 'Up in the Air' and most definitely 'The Ring' - top films!

Thanks.

Ahoy Ghostie,

You're right. Would say though, the scripts that are the closest are often those when the director is also the writer. Unsurprisingly lol.

Cheers for having a look!

Two scripts that I studied that might be interesting to feature are Whiplash and Shutter Island.

Oh, and Dances With Wolves is an interesting one.

The first two really follow closely, if I recall. Not sure about Dances. Though that was one powerful script (if not oddly written in places.)

PK - Will takes look at Shutter island and Dances with Wolves, too many Whiplash scenes already on YT, sadly. Thanks for taking a look!

And thank you Eldave for subscribing - Probably my first

How about doing the same thing but for folks on Simply Scripts who have had their scripts produced?

That's a very good idea, Max - Have you got any that I could do?

Or anybody else?

Cheers
