Okay people, you ready? This OWC we don't have to pretend that a producer/director is asking us to write a short script to be filmed. This time we actually have a real award winning director asking us to write, so here's your chance.
...but first a note from Don.

Genre: Low Budget Horror
All genres of Horror...Gothic, Torture, Slasher, Supernatural Thriller, Dark Fantasy, etc are acceptable, he's also open to more abstract forms. You are free to interpret the genre loosely, so a drama with horror elements is fine.
Each story will be judged on its individual merits and not by slavish attention to genre.
Looking for Powerful, original stories with a strong thematic content. Visually interesting with memorable characters and unique endings...twists are good and also an attempt at creating standout/iconic moments.
Theme: British/Celtic Mythology
Scripts should be based on one of the concepts below:
Angau, Anthropophagi, Aswang, Bean Sidhe, Baobhan Sith, Bean Nighe, Bendith Y Mamau, Bogeyman, Bunadh beag na fairrage, Cadir Idris, Corriigan, Darrant, Death-Bell, Divination, Doppleganger, Dyeduska Vodyanoy, Fear Liath More, Fetch, Gnome, Goblin, Gwragedd Annwn, Hand of Glory, Lambton Worm, Leanan Sidhe, Liannan She, Moran's Collar, Muryans, Necromancy, Occult, Osschaert, Pop, Sea Witches, Urisk, Will O the Wisp, Witches, Selkie, Shellycoat, Sirens.
Writers are free to modernise, modify and combine ideas.
Limitations:.
Contemporary and accessible locations. All generic locations are fine.
This does not mean that the story has to be contemporary but bear in mind that a decision to set it in another time will affect the scope of what can be shown.
No explosions, destructions of buildings, acting animals, police/military vehicles.
Writers should be ambitious and not feel limited by the budget. Think about point of view...If you look at a film like Signs, you can see that you can successfully tell a tale about a worldwide alien invasion set almost exclusively in a farmhouse..
...and there you go. Happy writing.
PS: Rick will be around if anyone has any questions. Just post your questions here in this thread.
Brush up on your movie history before you write... Troll 3 was already made. It was called "The Crawlers".
But with that said, I'll probably dive into this one... I got a few things I'd like to meld together here. So when we post the script, or send it in, we don't use our names on the script itself, yes/no?
It seems like just about all of the concepts given had something to do with water. Is that a preference for location? Some were even creatures that lived under water.
Very unique idea for this challenge by the way. Totally grabbed my attention.
Does it have to take place in England and with English actors? I ask this because the tone of dialect will have to match for me. If there is one thing I need 100% authentic it's the dialogue.
English/Celtic Mythology does seem broad but maybe a little too broad. I was hoping for something more restrictive to be honest... Something that allowed us to work with the least amount of viable means, yet use the most creativity.
I dunno... Like I said, I'll probably do something here but I certainly need to brush up on both my English lore and Celtic Mythology now looking back in retrospect.
