I didn't even realize this was posted 'til I checked my email. Thanks, Don.
Anyway, just a little project I've been working on. Ebola meets zombie virus. CDC does something stupid, etc. Survivors across the country fighting hordes, blah, blah.
It's a zombie series. A writing exercise if anything at all. Kinda rusty at the moment after returning from another novel attempt, which ended quite good.
I have to say upfront that I'm not really a fan of Zombies - I do watch The Walking Dead but that's mainly cause I'm a fan of Andrew Lincoln - the rest of the cast always look to me like some throwback to the 70's - don't quite know why...
Anyway I gave your Ep 1 a look - not in detail mind. And, despite a few awkward sentences i.e.,
The windshield boasts an ENTIRE TOWN of zombies.
it's not bad. Definitely keep my interest and I found myself caring about what was happening to your characters - always a good thing.
I would say - who the heck needs yet another Zombie series but after all this time there still appears to be an audience with an insatiable appetite for them - so what do I know.
It's an interesting angle combining Ebola and Zombies although this episode didn't really deal with that. Maybe the next one does?
Anyway, that said this is pretty good - I definitely was engaged with the characters and what you've written so well done there. I'd work on hyping up the Ebola angle for this to be something different though, otherwise it doesn't read anything particularly new to me - jmh. Good work
Episode 2 adds a little more to the whole "Ebola" angle. Not much, but you'll see where I'm going with it. It's a more science-y episode than Episode 1, especially in the first half, then it goes nuts. The quarantine section of ep2 really reveals a lot about the Ebola virus' "mutation".
Personally, I think Episode 2 is a better pilot than Episode 1, then Episode 3 continues from Episode 1 (with the characters you met and got left on a cliffhanger with).
The Ebola thing will be touched upon and the zombies won't be as cliche as they are, in say, the Walking Dead. They'll evolve.
As far as "windshield" goes (lol) I think I tried to make it sound as if the windshield was a TV screen and the town of zombies were the stars. Now that I've re-read it, you're right, it is kinda awkward sounding.
