Hi! I'm new here, this is my first post. This is me:
http://www.kendalbrenneman.com

I'm living in France and I've produced 2 short films here so far. One I co-wrote and produced (and acted in) for an L.A. film festival (for which we got 8 nominations but no wins). But I'd like to produce and act in something I really care about, rather than one shot on a deadline with a predetermined theme.

I would love to make a comedy, but I'm not a writer and I don't know anyone with the same taste to help me come up with something. I'm a fan of Joss Whedon, and Arrested Development, for example.

I would love to make something that I can take to festivals. That film I linked you to up there we took to the Cannes short film corner, and I'd love to do that again.

If anyone is interested in working with me and also idolizes Joss Whedon.... push that reply button...

Check out the Shooting the Shorts section, selected short scripts are summarised and reviewed so you can get a good feel for the script before you open it.

There's also the short scripts board on here where a lot of great material is also posted.

Good luck with the script search.

Anthony

Hi there! Yes, I've looked through the site, but I haven't found anything that seems appropriate for me, so I figured I'd reach out specifically for it. Is there a way to narrow down a search so that I could search for like, "short script, strong female lead, dark comedy, etc"? I'd like to find something that makes a statement, too. Something that challenges people.

Well, I've seen every episode of Buffy probably more than ten times. And I've seen the episode Once More With Feeling probably a hundred times. Angel, again, every episode I've seen countless times. Firefly... don't even get me started. If I ever meet anyone even remotely involved in the cancellation of that show I will physically attack them without warning. So yes, I'm a pretty big Joss Whedon fan.

And I write a lot of comedy. You can check out some of my scripts below in my signature. But like Anthony said, the STS is a good place to look too. Lot of good writers here.

We're still flying. (only Joss Whedon fans will know what this means)

Haha, I just read the first one (Course Listing Unavailable). I've got a crossbow!

I worked on the last season of Buffy as a stand-in, that was my intro to Joss. I haven't seen everything he's made, but some of it. Maybe half.

Any interest in writing something with a Buffyesque lead?

That's awesome. Does that mean you actually got to hang around the cast? Did you talk to the man himself?

Certainly. I haven't written a lot of female leads but I've been working on this one recently:

Bit of a work in progress still. And not really a comedy like you want. But maybe there's something here of interest in the female lead and/or story.
