Hello.

I was thinking of perhaps a board dedicated solely to loglines/the logline process. Having spent a few months doing the marketing/query process - I've found loglines/the hook/premise/the all-important-25-words-or-less are hugely instrumental to screenplay success.

So I dunno - perhaps a board to help writers hone their logline? Just food for thought anyways.

I personally don’t read them.

I don’t like reading a great logline to then read a bad story/execution.

On the flip side.

To read a bad logline that will put you off the story and then the story is actually great.

It’s still a good idea to help others sell their stories.

You're welcome Dark Horse.

They run a good site over there for critiquing loglines.

Many potential readers never get past the title. In the absence of a flashy poster, the logline is the second invitation to c'mon in. Then there's the synopsis and then the first pages...It's a journey. With so much unsolicited digital content available, a good logline is like chicken soup, "It couldn't hurt."

Agreed.

BLB

Commodus: But the Emperor Claudius knew that they were up to something. He knew they were busy little bees. And one night he sat down with one of them and he looked at her and he said, "Tell me what you have been doing, busy little bee..."

Well, it's actually here:

https://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-collaborate/m-1260421988/

Perhaps Don might think about making it more front and centre. It does appear to be a bit hidden in the collaborative thread.

I learned at the adult education center in Berlin that a Log line from one to exist until three sets, and is roughly described the main plot without giving away the ending.
Producers usually have little time and want to know what it's all about. Often the log line is also used as a sales pitch. I have read and write some log lines, although I do not want to sell any of my screenplays, because it helps me roughly structure my story.

Saw this and thought I'd better update the link for the new thread.

Review my logline:
