So, quite a few years ago, there was a lot of buzz about a script called Killing On Carnival Row. We even had a discussion about that script here.
https://www.simplyscripts.net/.....+carnival+row/#num12

Some people LOVED the script. Not just the story, but the writing as well. I personally was not able to finish the script. I thought it was a cumbersome read, but the story didn´t grab me either. There has been talk for years about it becoming a film. I had forgotten all about it, to be honest. I was really surprised when I came across it today an Amazon prime. It turned into a series. I watched the first episode and it looks good and seems like it can shape up into something, but I´m definitely not sold on it yet.

Anyone else watching? Anyone else remember the script?

I remember thinking the script felt really ripped off Terry Pratchett, but I'll give it a go on Amazon.

You know, I thought that title was ringing a bell -- a low buzz on my radar, as I've seen ads for it here and there.  Now I know why.

I was nuts for that script -- 10 years ago almost to the day!  I wonder if I would still like it as much today?

Thanks for calling this out, Pia, will have to give it a look.

I think the looks of it is pretty much how I pictured it in my head when I read it, but the story doesn´t follow the script. Which is understandable since it has changed from a feature to a series. It also seems to me, if I remember the script, that it was grittier and maybe a bit more Unrated than this show.

Orlando Bloom is in it, which doesn´t hurt. But it was also nice to see Jared Harris in it since I thought he was excellent in Chernobyl.

The first bonus feature is a mini-documentary "From Page to Screen" which may or may not talk about how the story evolved. There's a spoiler warning on it, so don't watch that first

I'm curious why the making-of bonus feature is rated TV-14.

Feature-length scripts:
Who Wants to Be a Princess? (Family)
Glass House (Horror anthology)

TV pilots:
"Kord" (Fantasy)
"Mal Suerte" (Superhero)

Additional scripts are listed here.

I was thinking about posting this same thread, as I remember that heinous script.  So overwritten, such poor writing...

And, now, it's a series on Amazon Prime with a solid cast and most likely, a big budget.

Loved the script.. not sure I'm loving the series. It does get better as it goes.. but because I love fairy... I will most likely stick with it thru the duration.

This hadn't really been on my radar at all although have heard of it, but what I had seen didn't float my boat.   Was going to pass.  However, the reviews suggests it might so I'll happily dive in!

Three episodes in and it's okay. Some things look amazing, others look pretty stupid. The acting is relatively solid, nothing to complain about.

Story wise it definitely hasn't hooked me in but there is enough going on to make me want to continue watching for the moment.

I was looking forward to this until I realized that Cara Delevigne is in it. The girl is criminally untalented.

Finished it last night, I would recommend it. Not the best thing you’ll ever watch but interesting enough to keep me entertained.

There is a sub plot that I found more interesting than the main plot. I could watch a whole show just about that.

The themes are well trodden but have a unique wrapping, racism, minority persecution etc.

Worth a watch, won’t be for everyone but I'll definitely tune in for season 2, if there is one.

Finished the season, and at first it looked like they went all out on the world-building with sets and effects. But as the episodes went on, more and more scenes were shot in the dark which gave it an unintentional low-budget sci-fi feel (can’t imagine budget was literally low).

Edit: I hope we see Philo's mole-fish in season 2. I'm feeling sorry for it.
