Most famously known as the movie from Henb's avatar, of course.

A Cronenberg, a Sutherland, and even Orville Peck -- so Canadian!

A big leap forward from Antiviral and a solid gem of a film overall. Weird, hyperviolent, intelligent, unexpected, and featuring multiple erect penises.

I went into this 100% blind and was happy I did so, so I won't describe the plot. I'll just say it's a slick corporate thriller with strong sci-fi and horror elements, and it belongs to that great tradition of genre films that capture the mood and problems of today far more honestly and unflinchingly than the "serious" Oscar-bait dramas of its year.

HenB's avatar.

Well done, Chris - one post for the day on SS.

Well... Now two posts, if you count mine.

I read an interview with Brandon Cronenberg the other day. More body horror, that's all I got cause he was being cagey about revealing plot and I don't want to know too much anyway.

Antiviral was patchy but Caleb Landry Jones  is always good value.

A good cast for this one... Andrea Riseborough is popping up in a lot lately and she's always solid, and Jennifer Jason Leigh -  connections to Cronenberg Snr there and eXistenZ.

Looking forward to seeing it, in a cover-my-eyes kinda way.

P.S. The extra quiet here may be cause I'm guessing everyone's glued to Election results.
Including us here in Oz. I'll just say I'm quite surprised at the support for Trump, given the year that has been. Thought it would have been nowhere near neck and neck. Never trust Polls.

Nice review! Will watch this weekend. Been on the docket for a little bit. Antiviral was okay, honestly, but I enjoyed the novelty of the Cronenberg name and the revisiting of Cronenberg Sr.'s earlier work (on a surface level) coupled with a newcomer's vision who just happens to be extremely close to the source. I don't know Possessor's plot and haven't seen the trailer or anything else, so should be in a good position to experience this fresh. Long live the new flesh!

I agree that this is a major improvement compared to Antiviral. However, I still don't think this was a very good movie.
