After lurking on and off for a couple of years, I guess this is, um, well, hi.

At fifty three years of age I’m a beginner who wished he’d stayed in school longer - my grammar at times is a Pauling, as well as my sense of humor it seems.

I have to admit the prospect of offering my opinion on other screenplays or others WIP is a little intimidating, as my understanding of the mechanics of screen writing is quite limited. Having said that, I’ve always maintained even the newbie in the room can have a perspective worth considering , even if that opinion is rather simplistic or perhaps not very well articulated.

Anyway, thanks for putting together the library of scripts I’ve recently had the joy of pawing over, as well as the board contributions which I’ve already gleaned a lot of good stuff from - some of you are great writers with important insights for newbies like myself.

I look forward to contributing if I can in some small way, and possibly even mustering up the courage to post my own WIP maybe.

Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wayne, your opinion and contribution will be most welcome and we've all been in same place as a newbie, but thoughts on story and character are personal anyway, so always valid.

Grammar was/is an issue for many, myself included, have a look at the free version of Grammarly as it can help with the basics both in terms of fixing your own writing but also in understanding the rules a little better.

Look forward to seeing some of your work.

Hi Anthony. Thanks for the welcome, and the heads up on Grammarly - I wasn't aware it had a free version, I'll have a look.

Ha! The term "your work" sits a little uncomfortably as it suggests (for me anyway) a certain standard or level of proficiency.or skill.  However, I'm mustering the courage - maybe late on a Friday night after a few scotches. *hic*

Thanks again for the welcome, Anthony.

Welcome to SS.

Members here come from all over the planet. Many from non English speaking countries, so grammar and spelling can be hurdles for sure. Fortunately these days those are fairly easy to overcome. Format is also something that is easy to get a handle on. What we all strive for is coming up with great stories with memorable characters. If you're full of ideas, you're doing great already.

As far as reviewing scripts goes, all you need to do is comment on what you liked or didn't like. Everyone has an opinion. That's all. And, finally, the more you participate, the more feedback you'll receive. People like active members.

Hi, GB. Very kind of you to stop by and say hello, thanks.

Perhaps like many aspects of life, we only get out of things what we put into them. I'll certainly try contribute where I can,  it's not lost on me the importance for boards like SS to have active members to keep it all ticking over.

Cheers

Welcome, Wayne.

This place is a great way to learn and get feedback. It's certainly helped me over the past couple of years. But yes, the more you give the more you will get back and comments and reviews on work are always welcome.

Hope to see you around.

Matt

Hey Matt.

SS sure does seem to have  a lot of good stuff to sift through which is gold for those who are learning - not to mention the very generous members who offer their time, experience and advice.

Cheers
