Hi Zack, glad you liked it. I'm still chugging away at it. Haven't had much time to write lately, but that's starting to change...

I gave it a read too. Thanks, Kirsten.

I don't remember ever having a nightmare (as an adult) after watching a horror movie.
Love being scared when it's not real.

Hubby, on the other hand, makes us switch off and watch a half hour of something else before we turn in. Wimp.

Hi Libby, horrors never really gave me nightmares either.

LOL, that's what wifey does too, but I have her hooked on horror now. Although she covers her eyes a lot, she still loves them...

I guess this story relates somewhat to horror films and anxiety.

One of my weirdest childhood memories involves being startled while sleeping over at a friend's house. My buddy's family always slept with the TV set on all night, and I woke up in the wee hours of the morning as some random horror movie was showing on their TV. In the scene I viewed, a fanged, ape-like creature lumbers into a playground filled with kids and attacks them. The children dash away screaming and the ape growls at them. It was shocking for me to wake up and view such a random, horrific scene, and that moment has always stuck with me.

Well, a couple of months ago, I decided to figure out what film I was viewing that night. I thought this would be an impossible task, but it took me only about five minutes to determine that the scene came from the 1970 film Trog  starring Joan Crawford, of all people. I simply Googled the phrase "Ape attacks playground" and I found a review of Trog. I was able to watch an old trailer to the film, and, sure enough, there was a snippet from the playground scene that frightened me so much. It's pretty clear now that Trog is a super-cheesy B-movie and the creature isn't very scary at all.

I know that's not much of a story, but I feel a real sense of satisfaction for getting to the bottom of this. Case closed.

Hey Zack, yes, thank you!...I'm working on getting it up to par. I'll let you know ASAP about a read! Hopefully before Xmas....

Rob, waking up to a scene like that would have done the same to me too.  I'm sure we could have a thread about the scenes that stuck with us and traumatized us as kids. I have a couple... I should look them back up again. Mine were all from movies I wasn't actually watching. Just walked in on.... a holocaust movie, a decapitation, and someone under a train... I was always terrified of losing my head after seeing the decap scene lol... after that I'd sleep with the blanket over my neck, so no one would be able to cut through the blanket to cut off my head lol....
