Meh.

Not entirely a waste of time but it's close. Look, if you've seen one, you've seen 'em all. This one is exactly what you expect. Louder. Bigger. Dumber. They try to shoehorn a plot in there but between the conniving scientists, incompetent execs, gung-ho military wannabes (and he's just a carbon copy of Burke from Aliens), the pointless kids (one's a geek of course), the Indiana Jones'ish male super protag it's just too fucking predictable.

A couple of good scenes but that's basically it.

I hated it. With a passion. It was exactly what you would expect. Predictable plot, cardboard characters, reused ideas.

Seemed like a remake of the first one to be honest. I'm sorry, but when you put in 150-200 mil into making a movie, I expect to see something GREAT. Not just a visual spectacle of color and CGI. There were four screenwriters credited to this movie. This was the best they could come up with?

Thanks mate. I probably wouldn't bother to watch this anyway. I lost interest after the second one. I did like the Michael Crichton books though. He's an excellent writer.

Truth.  One of my favorites.

And yes, the film is pretty much exactly what you would expect.  Maybe 3 or 4 nice surprises thrown in there.  I found the demise of that assisstant girl to be pretty amusing.  This is not a "great" film, but certainly not a "bad" film.

I will put this out there, however -- do not forget the original is, like, 20 years old.

If you've got kids who have not seen a "Jurassic" film on the big screen, it can be pretty cool for them.  This was "all new" to my teen, who enjoyed it quite a bit.

I have to say I loved it.

I grew up as an absolute dino fanatic and was a huge fan of the original. The second was disappointing and the third laughable.

For what this is though, a popcorn munching blockbuster, I was very happy with how it turned out. Some epic moments and also some emotion in there, even if it was a bit cheesy.

Not better than the first but at last a good follow up.

Leave your brain at the concession stand and you'll have some fun. It's loud and dumb, but I enjoyed myself. The dinosaurs are written better than the humans unfortunately. And there's this one scene with Howard which is the dumbest fucking thing I've seen all Summer.

Also, it's not very scary (if at all). Very family friendly. Oh and the CGI looks like garbage.

I liked it. But "loved it" would be an overstatement. As someone who totally adored the first one because it was about Dinosaurs, I was stoked to hear they were making another one. Finally got to see it on Sunday and sure I was left leaving the cinema with a smile on my face but then I also left going "It had nothing on the first".

Personally, I HATED the ending. I felt there could have been something more done. But the concept behind a human being an Alpha to a dinosaur was interesting. I'd have liked to see more of the Raptors and Pratt's character whose name eludes me at the moment.

Saw it today in IMAX 3D.  I wanted to wait until the crowds died down and I picked a perfect morning with only about 10 peeps in the big theater...just the way I like it.

I wasn't too impressed with the first 20 minutes or so, but once things got going, I loved it.

Say what you will about the plot, the characters, even the acting, but I don't see how anyone could argue with the splendor of the FX, the action, and all that goes into such a huge production of a rock solid franchise, such as this.

I would have liked to see more of the park, more of the Gyro Spheres, more dinos roaming around freely, but there's an awful lot going on here and I understand how certain things had to be cut down.

Of course, we have lots of cliches here, lots of completely impossible things going on, but as the credits rolled, I was very happy and impressed, as the makers did this franchise proud and hopefully, we'll continue to see sequels pop up every few years.

This is already at #21 WW, and my bet is that it continues up into the top 5 or 6 before it ends its run.  Not bad...not bad at all.

Damn, I'm good...sometimes.

Sitting at #5 WW, and only $45 Million away from reaching #4.

If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and see it on a big screen.

I'd give it an A- too. Don't like to disagree but to me the screenwriting was world class. It's just a subjective game, and I simply felt that they wrote draft after draft after draft, to almost perfection. Perhaps I'm wrong, probably going to research about the process the authors had.

To me, there are two movies in the "Jurassic genre" now - Park and World.

Who cares, right? Curious is that, to me, the movie that built its trailer on mystery, Star Wars 7, couldn't hold stand with the movie that sold by punch lines and effects, JW.  The result was upside down. Honestly, the sea monster and the flying dinosaurs as well as the mother's speech at the airport were the weakest points and they choose these to sell it in the Trailer, and that's why I didn't buy a ticket at first.

In Jurassic Park /World the dinosaurs are the protagonist and the villains. The movie has that in its veins. That's not so easy to accomplish.

Watched it last night. You'd think out of the 150mil budget they'd spend more than .002% on a script.

Hey Tony, is your statement meant ironic; so that you dislike the story?

@ off topic: Saw the trailer of Hateful 8 and I noticed they seem to cut the joke about the door... what's going on about that. I found it funny up to pretty authentic to nail the door close when the mechanic failed, in the middle of a blizzard.

The door does need to be nailed shut... and there's a good reason for it being like that. You'll have to watch it to find out why though.

OFF TOPIC:

SPOILER SOMEHOW

You mean the disastrously third act (flashback)...

From what I remember of the script the door was damaged all along first act; but in the trailer it's not.

How do you drive through Dino-country in a glass ball and not have Dino-doodies stuck to your windshield? Other than that and the fact that the alligator Dino that eats sharks for treats was about 10x bigger than it actually was, I loved it. Reminded me of the first time I saw the original. Wasn't as intense, but fun.

Ya, kinda thought the story would'a been better. And Vincent DOnofrio is so much better than that display of acting mish mass.

BTW, I spent most of the movie wondering if I was attracted to Claire or not. She has a really weird look to her.
