SCARECROWS

My favorite horror movie of all time... no no no, the best
hands down horror movie of all time. IMO of course.

This is a movie that had a budget my parents would buy my
school shoes with back in the 90's "just kidding" but
somehow it managed and still does manage to do something no
other horror movie has ever done before... make me think and
actually be scared to do so.

The scarecrows themselves are a small 3 "the active ones
anyways" but the great abundance and use for the other
exterior scarecrows is nothing short of breath taking and
scary.

You can swear at times they are breathing... or is it just
the wind?

WILLIAM WESLEY did something here and he did it with
nothing. He used an erie music score and the dark to instill
fright into you.

The plot and the acting never miss a beat. You'd think these
guys were all top paid card carrying members of the guild...
well, they might be card carrying, but top pay... nope, not
a chance.

The only hang up in the movie "I feel" was the girl and the
dog. It was the only part that makes you scratch your head
and say why, however... the same could be said for the
terrible remake of dawn of the dead... classic crap dog
moment in there.

The idea in 87 was fantastic. A group of army soldiers
hijack a plane, getting away with a million in U.S.
currency. We don't see that part though, and it's a good
thing, due to the limit on budget... it made for a much
faster and better flowing movie.

They have to fly low "another great call by W.W." to stay
clear of the radar, over a california corn field in the
middle of nowhere.

One of the men gets greedy and thus... he drops a grenade
into the cockpit and bails with the crate of dough... right
into the spooky cornfield. The others quickly follow as the
grenade attempt fails.

The money lands in a make-shift graveyard and the movie
really picks up from here. A mind game ensues with the
soldiers and the man they're after and... now the scarecrows
too.

I simply can't say enough about this film. I love it and
wish that it had a proper U.S. DVD release with all the
extras W.W. Could throw at us. However, the only thing that
floats around now are a few out of print VHS tapes and an
old laser disk "remember them"

I did manage to find a site that sells the L.D. Version on
DVD.. the quality is less than impressive and about = to the
VHS tape I've had since 89' .. but it's still on DVD so I
can't complain.

"Scarecrows" is awesome, though it is unfortunate that Wesley's career never took off (the only thing after this was the horrible straight-to-video "Route 666" in 2001).  Please post the link soon- I've been looking for this one on DVD (copy or not) for quite some time.

Again, this is a copy of the laserdisk version and it will not be DVD quality. The sound is great, the brightness is perfect... the picture is a little to be desired. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad... but it's also not the best.

It is uncut and unrated "the best version that exist thus far" It shows the full on gore of the Bag of the face stab, the decapitation and gutting, The pitch fork to the hand - the ripping of the hand away from the pitch fork -- the mulitple stabbing of the woman.... and so so so much more.

It's worth it just to have it in your collection, cause it doesn't look like W.W. is gonna be giving up the rights to this sucker anytime soon for an actuall DVD here in the states or anywhere else.

also, yeah... route 666 left a bad taste in my mouth... it starts off well enough, but then... then it seems like he lost funding about half way thru the picture. For such a talented writer/director/producer... you'd think better of the film, but it just wasn't the case here.

To bad to, cause SCARECROWS is incredible.

Yes... I've ordered several from them and they are all fully playable on any DVD player.

Watched this movie, finally with CK and have to say I enjoyed it! A few parts scared the crap out of me, and had me on edge, but I would recommend it in a heartbeat!

The acting was great and I especially liked the bloke who played 'Curry', really funny guy. I disliked the blonde woman intensly though, just found her to be sooooooooo annoying.

Glad I got to see it in the end. Go watch it, if you haven't already!
