VERTIGO, hits on the 17 worldwide and will play across every major radio station in the world some 30 times.

Pretty impressive... I'm a sucker for a good rock tune though and even more so when a band, such as U2, is doing it.

I'm a little hyped.

Don't quote me on the 30 times, it was taken from a message board... and we all know how the news can get on there.  In any event, the song will hit on the 17th and that's all I needed to know was true.

I just downloaded it. It sounds OK, although I don't know if it is the final mix. It sounds rough.

Email me if you want a sneak peak.

Yeah, I just DL'ed it from Win mx "I deleted it after listening, I mind you"... it's a little rough, I agree.  It's almost like 8 minutes long... That just won't fly as a single.  It also had maybe 4 lines of lyrics.  I'm a little upset, but at the sametime kinda hyped, cause the new album will have a good sound.

My main problem with it was the long long intro and then the kinda disco-type bass and drum loop... then you got edge playing something more hard edged with his up stroke pick motion... Then, Bono comes in with nearly no lyrics.

I dunno... I like it cause it's U2, but I don't like it, cause it is U2... you know?  Meaning, I hold them to higher standards then most everyone else.  I just hope the rest of the albumb sounds good.  1 down 10 tracks to go, they usually don't disapoint me none.

So, I can't say that I love VERTIGO, but... I can't say I hate it either.

Email me the version you have because mine is nowhere near six minutes!

I would but I already deleted it... I didn't want to DL any U2 stuff, cause they are an important band.  I will always buy a u2 album, never DL and keep it.

Anyway, no... the versions on the net are not real.  They are DJ mixed versions the band had put out originally.  I don't think anyone has the real stuff yet.  I was over at a u2 forum and they confirmed the song "VERTIGO" isn't really "VERTIGO" at all... I thought it was a little... dance-esq, compared to what Bono and Edge were promising the album to be.  Either way though, if the album has that sound, it'll still be good... and it's not the real sound "or so everyone is saying"

So in closing... u2 pulled a RadioHead with their new album.

Well, sorry for this entire topic... cause not only is Vertigo not the real Vertigo as confirmed today on several websites centered around the band, but the real song Vertigo won't be played until the 24th of this month.

I guess the hyp got to everyone a little earlier than it should have.

I actually kinda like the disco drum beat and bass liners, but kinda felt it wasn't really the song.  The guy who sings in the version floating around has an english acent also... it's almost Bono, but you know there is only one Bono.

Also, the track was nearly 8 something minutes and as I said before... that won't fly as a single.  Hell, the intro was over a minuet long in itself.  So rest easy U2 fans, if you hated the song, it's to be expected, cause it wasn't really U2.

Hey Glass,

I found this section cos I posted my thread in the wrong place and saw this one! Never visited this area before.

I think 'Vertigo' is good - I haven't had a chance to check out 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb yet, but have heard 'Sometimes you can't make it on your own' - which is special to me for personal reasons.

Sounds like you're a big U2 fan, are you seeing one of their concert shows this year? Think they sold out in the UK, people at work always talking about it.

Would've liked to have gone to one myself, as I just started getting into them with my Album: U2 - The Best of 1990-2000.

Andy  ;)
